What throws a spanner in the works is yesterday I read a Stihl brochure from 1989 on the MS044. 12.8lb/5.8kg!!! You kinda feel we've gone backwards when reading good ol specs like that. My MS261 is over 12lb photo.

If you can find a nice used one, get a John Deere CS62 (Efco) and send it to one of the spice merchants on this site. A ported Efco 62 is a neat little saw, handles well and has darn good RPM... New, either 6100 Dollie or the "improved" 562. I've used mine for removals, limbing, smaller stumping (under 30") etc, mostly in Locust, Hedge, Oak(s), Hackberry, Mulberry and Ash. In all instances it does quite well. The ported 262 in the barn is a little slice of evil and a lot of fun to run for a few tanks, but for all day cutting, I'll take the behaviors and A/V of my 562.

OR, just get an 044/MS440, 365 special, or 372xp and be done with it, though both saws would be a bit of a mismatch given your 7910's availability.

Apparently 2016, I don't know what month or newer. There's another thread on this site that should be detailing the differences shortly, but all should be for a better unit, and that's saying something...

Flat out most powerful ported get a 6100
Best handling get a 562
036 is very close on power with the 6100 but will outlast the other 2 combined.

That's my take on it.
I have all 3 sitting here now

Something about an additional casing bolt, different fuel line and tank vent, different top cover, I'm not sure what else...
