The 036/360 saws were nice, as mentioned very reliable. If you can find a 361 to run, try it.

I haven't ran any of the newer 60cc saws past the 361 era.

A ported 440 or 440/460 hybrid would be my choice for that kind of wood.

If I'm felling or bucking anything like what was in my pictures I use either a muffler modded ms460 or my Dolmar 7910 with a 28" Oregon weight reduced bar ;-)

If you want a light limber that can handle medium sized trees with ease, get a ported 026.

All around saw, ported 036. You can have the oiler modded if you feel like pulling a 28 all day. I'd say up to a 25 would be fine stock to the best of my knowledge.

The 044 does very well with some machine work and ignition/muffler work. You'd be surprised how well it does with just a bit taken from here and there and stock ports.

The other older husky option I haven't seen mentioned is a 357XP. Obviously not 70cc power but light and powerful. And if porting is on the table it could be made to run right with a stock 562...or so I've been told

I've been skulking around on this site for a while before joining, I guess some of the best work saw builders are on this site :) at one point I was speaking to Mr Miller via email about my 7910 but that was once upon a time ago.
Hey you can leave the Mr. out. Lol.

I believe the wt posted for the 036 is incorrect, I believe they are sub 13 lbs (lighter than 362, 562 & 262), and ported they are a mean saw, I'm having one built (in fact, it may be done).

I'm also having a ported hybrid built, tough to beat the power the produce for a 14 lb (+/-) power head.

Finally, my ported 066 s/b arriving tomorrow, and I already have a bunch of nice saws! So, if you keep hanging around this website, be very, very careful!

A month ago I would have bet money that a 034 super or 036 was king of ported 60cc saws. This one is a good running saw

This is the first one of these I've ported and was really impressed with it,they are night and day between stock and ported.
I think a 6100 is going to be hard to beat although the hybrid i built David can't be much heavier.

I see 036s listed at 12.5 lbs, not sure what the real "scale" weight is. I believe the 6100 is a good deal heavier, even if it is close to the same displacement.

So many great 60cc saws. Stock you are buying for personal preferences. Like ergonomics, AV , tasting, dealer and parts support. Ported well that adds a whole other demention of a saws characteristics. Me I am boring I have a completely stock 60cc saw that I am so satisfied with the whole package I wouldn't get it ported even if for free. But it fits what I want in a saw.
