I can tell you honestly that using my variety of ported, mildly modded or stock saws for logging... I don’t put more wood on the ground and go home earlier with one saw over another within it’s cc class. The key is to use the right size saw for the task. Modded just makes it more fun but not necessarily more production because you are using more fuel. Every time you stop to fill up the thirstier modded saw... the stock saw is still cutting wood. The modded saw makes up for that refueling break by cutting faster... so it’s really a wash by the end of the day for me with a ported 70cc saw vs stock/muffler modded 70cc saw. A sharp chain and working smarter not harder... to me makes more difference. My body’s physical limitations are really what limits me, not the saws performance necessarily. I’m not trying to diss ported saws... there fun. But for what I do it doesn’t make a huge difference. Just my opinion. Maybe for firewood, milling or the weekend warrior it could be different?

Damn man, are you saying if I'm overweight by 80lb's and in very poor shape that I can't make it up by using a ported saw? What about if I use short light bar, will that help me get upta speed.

I watch hot saw a lot he brings up a lot of good points.
I contacted him about doing an old 66 that I came across. It was from yucca salvia.? I think that’s the way you spell it early 80s. Bottom end was lost in it. And then when it broke away the piston and snapped and scored the cylinder plastic was in very good shape.

Was that before or after the stage-psycho port job?

Hey spike what did they do it at a 562 I saw the video with Walt. A lot of internal redesign on it. I may make a road trip up there in the summertime on 592s come in and grab a new 562 in a backpack blower possible not sure on the road trip yet.?

I wouldn't call it a lot Dave: just continuing improvement. They changed the bearing on the flywheel side by eliminating the "step" on the inner race and added a protective washer as a dust protector. There was a slight change to the crankcase to accept the new bearing. On the other side, they strengthened the clutch drum and there's a new oil gear to mate up with it. The oil pump is a little larger as well. Up top there's the new air filter that everyone has seen.

I believe he said at the end of the day ported saws DO NOT put more wood on the ground at the end of the day.
But I have been wrong in the past.
