Good stuff buddy. Glad you guys are happy. For the most part, the only big trees near me are big nasty old cottonwoods. Damn things grow like weeds here. People used them for windbrakes in the same way as folks in Ca used Eucs. We've got pines and firs, but mostly up in the mountains and over the borders in Idaho and Montana. Yellowstone is 90 minutes from me.
#variablesI know this is the wrong form page to post this. But I just don’t get it.
I watched a video this morning of somebody comparing a 572 to a 500l. Of course the 500 by his watch 79 cc the 572 is 70 cc give or take?
I believe he said it was a pound difference. And they were both stock saw.
He even said the two saws are two different categories and there was only a second and a half between the two give or take..
I know that when the 592 comes out it’s all gonna start over. In my book if you want to Saul that flops around on the side and cost $400 more give or take. That’s your choice is got more plastic in it that’s your choice. But how you can can compared to Saw in to different categories I don’t know. And he did say the one Saw was over designed.
In my opinion the souls have different feelings and handle different. And it’s gonna come down to what you truly like Ford or Chevy. But if we are become in a society that’s gonna cry over 1 pound shame on us. In bass fish everybody be crying for that 1 pound or 2 pound more but that’s a different subject easily 1 pound can be made up with lightweight bars I’ve seen it with old 36 inch bars that way close to 5 pounds light weight 3 1/2 give or take. I think personally I don’t have a soul that’s over designed and if it falls out of my truck it’s not gonna break fly wheels are not gonna break.I seen other stuff with people compare a 462 do a 500i well that’s nice to know what to saw can do.
And I understand the theory of putting a portage lighter weights are up against a stock whatever 390 up against661
It’s nice to see that comparison that’s all I’m saying is that we all have our own home. And let the fallout begin. Back in the day speed wasn’t an issue we had to Mac the 1010s whatever and yes the old Macs were good saw.
Some of it also compares to what you also have to look at what’s easier to work on if you do have a problem parts we all know this. What is in your area to supply chain. There’s a lot of variables to consider.
That was likely my video you're referring too. Nobody is complaining about weight. The fact is guys that run their saw day in day out, weight is a big problem and as you age the problem multiplies. This is why loggers have smaller saws ported, so you can have a lighter smaller package with power. Why compare them at all? Well because that's what guys do, this is why race tracks exist, lighter, more power, better efficiency wins. Using a large power head with a small bar is just like a Shelby Cobra, small car big engine, not practical, but a blast.Valuables I like
But in some cases for people to complain about a pound of weight. And then go out and get a 661 or a 395. And put a 24 inch bar on it or a 20 inch bar ???
And I’m not saying the people here are the one put 90cc saws with 20 inch bars and 24 that are complaining about the weight but it falls in my opinion in the same line
I can tell you honestly that using my variety of ported, mildly modded or stock saws for logging... I don’t put more wood on the ground and go home earlier with one saw over another within it’s cc class. The key is to use the right size saw for the task. Modded just makes it more fun but not necessarily more production because you are using more fuel. Every time you stop to fill up the thirstier modded saw... the stock saw is still cutting wood. The modded saw makes up for that refueling break by cutting faster... so it’s really a wash by the end of the day for me with a ported 70cc saw vs stock/muffler modded 70cc saw. A sharp chain and working smarter not harder... to me makes more difference. My body’s physical limitations are really what limits me, not the saws performance necessarily. I’m not trying to diss ported saws... there fun. But for what I do it doesn’t make a huge difference. Just my opinion. Maybe for firewood, milling or the weekend warrior it could be different? This is why loggers have smaller saws ported, so you can have a lighter smaller package with power.
Back in the day Matt Ward and a few other loggers documented the production improvements they gained with running ported saws, they had spread sheets and everything. Sadly that was all lost when the site was hacked.I can tell you honestly that using my variety of ported, mildly modded or stock saws for production... That's a hotsaws 101 video. Fabz that you?Unfortunately it was hot saw he posted 500i
He talked about how the Husky was over design but doesn’t flop around like the 500 And how it was and Al the 572 was over design. Both saw stocked and how the Husqvarna wraps do not listen to the customers they want lighter saw and faster saw.
You've just discribed religion to a tee, I know I am going to get blasted for saying that but I honestly couldn't care lessAgain I always find it amusing how the vast majority of people will always find a way to make something fall inline with their own likes and beliefs, even when facts are looking right back at them. And in doing so often overlooked what's actually the + and - on both ends.
