good point, is those two type generator same dimensions?
I thought maybe there could be different off set on those 3 type flywheel....that could at least for me make an fragmented flywheel

If I have time over the weekend Tor I'll check. I have a one and two wire Generator.
The Two wire one I just put on my 372 that I'm building so I'll have to pull the flywheel back off. I know I layed them on top of each other but never measured them. I would guess there the same size.

I remember you had both generator versions in another thread, my memory isnt that bad compared to my age hehe
I checked IPL's today and you have totally correct that there is two mayor flywheel&generators.
Now it's really starting to be interesting, if those generators can't be swapped over to the other system....

My guess is the damage was done when the flywheel was originally pulled off the original saw. I put it on....and when the saw came back siezed...I noticed magnetic pieces but didn't figure where they came from until the other day.

I'm probably going to remove the heated components from the saw and hold out for a flywheel...I'll just discount the saw appropriately.

wanna know why I use AS trading post? because its easier to access via my cell... though in appearance on this site this TP looks similar, but its actually easier to use the AS TP w/ my mobile device.

if you guys are really feeling poorly then i'll post it on here

just for curiousity, what # is stamped in the flywheel?
2xx flywheel had lower magnet quality, 3xx was improved at least on those I have, 550 seems to be top notch.

thanks, most of those I've seen had the number outside, other side of the ignition magnet, but they are probleby the oldest type

that IS the carnage... can you see the missing part... its the magnetic ring at the very edge of the yellowish stuff. only a piece of the magnet came off, but apparently it was enough to mess w/ the whole works
