Had a good time chatting and running the mill. I want one now... Matts 350 got fired up a couple times... I met the guy that bought the saw this thread is about.
And I came home with a 288 that needs some love... And a 36"bar and chain!

Dan yesterday confirmed what I've been saying for a while... chainsaw milling is for the birds, and we like chainsaws. For the small investment it takes to buy a woodland mill, its almost silly to have a chainsaw doing the milling.

One nice thing about chainsaw milling, its very portable and not limited to length. BUT, the time, and fuel, and noise etc make chainsaw milling a no-go in my mind compared to this mill.

on that note, the problem child saw is SOLD, XPG parts are in the TP, and this thread is done... thats all folks!

ps... i'm talking w/ someone on ebay right now that claims to have a xpg flywheel part #537051604 .... but the photos show that the g magnet ring is NOT present. so before you spend $50 ... this is not the correct flywheel.

Yeah, I really liked that mill Matt! Easy set up, very quick cuts, minimal noise.
But to be fair I've never milled with a chainsaw... But Ive cut a lot with them and I can't see preferring a saw...

it's worth to pay attention that is for sure.
I think in general you could had used all those G flywheel who was ment for 1 wire generator, like # 503 51 15 05.
They updated 362/372 IPL 2001-10, with a new flywheel, but even my 362xpg year 03 has the good old flywheel 503 51 15 05.
I think most g flywheel get destroyed by using wrong tool, if I can, I always use the two pawl screws when I take the flywheel of.

with the price Husky demand they should last forever!!
No kidding. I had an xpg 385 case here and wondered if there was a flywheel for it.

i guess we have to check on partstree if there is any other flywheel you can use on your 385xpg.
It seems to be the same flywheel as they use on the 2 wire 362/372 generator system:
https://www.partstree.com/parts/husqvarna/parts/537051606/

its a chincy magnet.... no way no how i could see justifying the price differential....
i agree they are to expensive as part, and they take very little heathing before they are destroyed.
In Norway we only pay 30$ extra for an XPG vs XP.
I've got so used to have xpg saws that I dont buy if they dont have the G system.
I dont us gloves and I love to have a better grip compared to gloves.

Matt, what does your mill cost, and is it portable???

Also, what length will it cut?

I have 4 logs I want to mill, but in 3 different locations.

So in case I missed it what caused this so to seize?

I don't have a direct cause. The closed thing I figured out was possibly loose carb bolts. They were somewhat loose when I pulled the saw apart. otherwise, it pressure tested fine, no issue there, and fuel wasn't an issue, fuel in the carb and in the tank was blue....my mix.

my mill is not exactly portable, no. I don't have it on a trailer right now. sorry Mike

I can do 18' beams though :)
