Lol. I like a good saw, period. My preference and everything I have happens to be Stihl. Bars, chains, everything.
But I do love a good running strong saw regardless of brand.
I know ya do, just haven't heard from you in a while and wanted to coax the bear out of the cave...Howdy

I dont own a 272, actually, nor do I own a 288.
I know the 3 I named was just ruffly and will correct it right now.
242/246/254/262/272/281/288 is where Husky did everything right!
The whole family!

My parts are on the way from Ulster County. Should be assembling my saw Monday or Tuesday. Just hope my piston gets here around the same time.

I never knew anything about this "A or B" cylinder and piston stuff. Has this practice carried through to more recent models too?
Mahle and KS left A B C pistons and came with a piston who fall between A and B piston, AB.
Meteor has continue with different slugs, 254 has only one from them, AB, while there is A B C pistons for 262.

OEM, AB piston
Meteor, most times 3 different options, a few times AB piston

I got one 266 project myself, xpg from 1986 :)
I've priority those small saws the last year knowing parts dry out, when I'm done with them its time for my 266 project and 2×372 projects.
Gotta finish them Mike :)
Sounds like you won't be running out of stuff to do anytime to soon.

You take it or an 044. Or whatever stihl had to match it in that era?

Yes.

Uncle has to run a fleet of 268/371s just to keep up with 1 little ol’ 461.

Never see a stihl for sale around here. I would have to find a junk one and fix it. I haven’t run any larger stihls at all. Even trashed ones bring good money on Craigslist. I’ve got too many saws now. But I think I’ll leave room for one stihl. Just for curiosity sake
