Hopefully this post doesn’t land in the middle of a conversation but...

Sat down to order my piston tonight and noticed a lot of the meteor slugs were marked “A” or “B” and didn’t have much luck finding an “AB” piston. Looking back through my pics the base of my cylinder is marked “B+”. Just to be sure I went back down to the barn to see if the cylinder had a stamp on top and sure enough it’s a “B” cylinder. Just though I’d share with y’all so this doesn’t get overlooked. An “A” piston is slightly smaller and may have had skirt slap issues. Purely speculation but the “B” piston is slightly bigger.

Yes Josh, you want the B piston. Slightly different bores. There is a thread on this somewhere.

And I have Ryan’s done. I’m interested to run them back to back.
Yep, I found a thread you started in 2016 about the same thing and it’s got lots of good info. Figured it wouldn’t hurt to highlight this little detail again. Not talked about very often.

Oops...quoted the wrong post

Cool! Good deal.
Jeff I have the 262 that Doc mentioned that he needed to change carbs on his saw to keep up with it. Note also that mine wears 20" bar and Doc's had 18" bar when they were compared a couple GTGs ago and mine held it's own.

The saw I have is referred to as the "Legend" which is a 262 that came with KS cylinder no decomp valve and HDA87 carb. It's ported by Randy I had him do it a couple years ago. Randy's recipe includes port timing and base cut w/ squish set that yields about 220 psi compression.

My brother is the original owner bought the saw brand new in 1992. Lucky to get the legendary combo.

The carb has never been rebuilt and started acting up a couple of tree jobs ago. If I get it rebuilt and set by the GTG feel free to run it!

Cool! Thanks Eric. [emoji106]
Those 87 carbs easy to rebuild?
Who makes 87 carb? Walbro? Zama?
Walbro is the HDA-87. Should be easy to do. I'm pretty sure it mainly needs a new diaphragm. I have a genuine walbro kit and will likely work on it this weekend.

Be plenty of 262s to run it sounds like if mine isn't online. It's a blast to run.

I hope my 93’ KS cylinder has some of that “legend” voodoo in it. I only have a 120 to run on it right now but I intend to mod a 199 for it after my firewood is done, or maybe during firewood season...lol. We’ll see how things go.

I’d wager my saw HAD an 87 on it and that’s why it got robbed. But that’s just a depressing speculation.
