SANY2175.JPG Some old small engine tools I have used over the years to rebuild small engines, a few are obsolete now.

Anyone have the original gearwrench reversible wrenches? I have well worn set of sae's that I recently replaced with the same set, and the new ones are a pile...they are overly bulky, the box end walls are so damn thick now the fit in even fewer tight spaces, and the open end is nearly 30-40% thicker....

I have metric/sae Craftsman ones form 10 years ago, they where the same as GearWrench back then. I just recently picked up a set of Dewalt ones that look the same just different markings.

Did you get their new GearWrench 120XP ones or the standards? I say this because the 120XP ones have dual 60 tooth gears that make 120 positions, where the standard/old ones are a single 72 tooth.

Nevermind, after further research they don't make the 120XP in reversible wrenches.

theyre both the 5 deg. ones, so 72 tooth it is.
the original set is 15 years old...and I have beat the *s-word out of all of em...only one that broke was the 5/16"...the only problem with the rest of them is the selector switch wearing out causing it to fall out...
these new ones are just a bad design, looks like they tried to make them stronger, which im sure they are, but it wasn't needed, all it does is make them less useful!
I think im going to pull the selector switches out of the new ones and put them in the old wrenches, and weld the box end solid on the new ones?

I've had this hiding under the couch for a while. Snap on industrial finish in SAE. Made in the year 1999 to 2000. Never used. I took the pickeling coating off one wrench. I have another chrome snap on set and one from Gray tools (that I love) to use. But who really uses SAE stuff anymore?
