TROOF, it is an impressive machine

I told my wife that we should take a cruise down to the Brazilian rainforest.
She called me out immediately for conspiring to plan a vacation around shipping cool saws back to myself in the states :)

Haha!!!! Mrs. Johnny5 is on to me the same!!!!!!
:):):):)

Thats a great question John. The Echo 1001 is has a reputation for being slow, though torque. The problem I see with those big 6 cube Mac's and Homies are that they also are way too heavy.
Wonder how a 1001 with an 8 pin in 3/8" would do?

An impressive saw...on my list for sure now. Honestly it sounds a lot like a Jonsereds 111s.

On a side note...I'm not an expert but these big saws bring a lot of new dangers to the table. In the start of the video the guy is carrying the running saw around with one hand under the bar....and takes his hand of the wrap when in the cut. Once you have one of these monsters pinch and back out of the cut you'll realize how much respect they command.

On mine too, but I am as impressionable as play-do where big saws are concerned.. Still looks like a great milling saw, so can justify under "business expenses" :)

Don't think can get in oz, so will get a mate to see if he can get me one out of south Africa (if the distributor there can get them).

Someone has more 655's than me. :(
I only's have three.

I'm trying to be (to Poulan 655's) what you are to 166's. Might you be interested in a trade?

Yeah, I hear ya'.......

I decided to go take a gander at some saw weights, and Mike Acres has the 750(112cc's) listed at 23.1 lbs PHO, which I believe is about the same weight as the CS 1201.

That guy is me: I was babying that saw as it is not mine, and that was the first time it had seen wood.

Is that a normal practice?
No.

Was I trying to be super careful handling a strangers $2,000.00 saw? Yep.

Sure thing man, wasn't my intention to single anyone out by name. Just something to mention as there probably a few on here that don't have much, if any experience with a saw that size.

I've never run a saw the size of a CS 1201, but when I do, I'll be sure to not juggle it along with two other chainsaws.
