1975 Ford highboy with the old trusted Dana 60. No lode just a 460 with a little bit more poop than normal. Lol

Solid work truck. Is it a full float 60 rear? 44 high pinion front? I might still hqve a set of 60 ff a les upstairs in the garage, i’d have to rummage.

One set is for Large Stihl 3002 mount and the other set is for Large Husky D009 mount bolts. It look like your damaged one is to the 3002 mount hole.

D009 gives you more options for bars so I'd just order up a set of those studs and carry on like it never happened.

And this is why I ask questions here (after searching of course). You fukkers know EVERYTHING!

Yea, the 429s and 460s do suck gas. Canted valves are nice, on a performance car, but they went over board on them. Smaller ports/valves would provide better low end and mid range, and fuel mileage.

That is why I always like the FE engines. Great torque and throttle response, and very durable. Also, the block is much shorter and the engine is lighter, which is an advantage especially in a light weight car (like a Mustang). You could build a 390 or 427 Ford to run far stronger than what your street tires could handle.

Yea I've got a built 390 sitting on the floor of the garage it has a cam that's up two steps bigger than the ho 390 cam but I just love the 460 that's in it right now plus it's a 1969 460 much better than the mid 70s.

Yep, they were the high compression ones, ran very strong.

At my brother's encouragement, my Dad bought a real sleeper for my Mom. It was a 1969 LTD, ugly green 4 door, but it had a 429 4bbl. Car would not launch, but on the highway it was a menace! With the 273 rear it would bury the 120 MPH speedometer in 2nd (shifting automatically). The over mufflered engine would just whistle like a jet, and there would be a panicked look on the driver of the hot rod next to you!

IIRC, it had 11:1 compression ratio.

We put a 390 4V HO in a 77 High Boy 350 dump with a granny geared knuckle crusher and 4.56 Sterling rear end. You could literally dump the clutch at an idle and that thing wouldn’t stall. It would haul ANYTHING without issue, anywhere, anytime. Mechanical top speed was like 58 mph.

Three saws came in today from my favorite Tree Guy. Two will be easy, a recoil on an 044 and a clutch bearing on a MS660.

The third saws is a MS461 with a stripped spark plug hole. This must be a weakness on these saws, had another one come in last year with the same problem from another tree guy. (ended up finding a used jug for that one). I've got the repair kit, we will see how it goes.

The two easy ones are done, luckily I had all parts need in stock. (Elastostart rope + handle and starter pawl kit for the 044 and a clutch drum bearing and clip for the 660).

Flashback to 1980...
When I was about 10, one of my friend's mom had the same exact car. She was a heavy gal named Evelyn. When we'd see her driving through town my friend called her Heavy Evvy and the Dragon Wagon. Lmao

Raffle saw cylinder cleaned up. Came out pretty good. Wish I had a perfect cylinder but this one will work just fine.

Did you flush it with WD 40? Is it grit, or a bad bearing?
It's fresh out of the box that looked like godzilla had it's way with it I'm going to hit it with some brake clean and blast it out with air and see if it smooths out it's bad though if you try to rotate the rod all the way around it will try to catch and stop never had one do that before unless it was straight up bad. Lol

I know it goes against what many have said (they like to dry test bearings), but I will not rotate the bearing in an Asian clone till I flush it with WD 40. IMO, testing them before flushing them can ruin them. I have just seem too much crap come out of them, and too many metal filings in the crank case, etc.

It's just kinda like ya gotta know what your dealing with, they don't keep these things clean. I pretend that Jason assembled them!
