So i am looking at this Dolmar 9010 and it has a stripped, out boogered up, attempted fixed bar stud hole. Looking more closely i see the saw has 2 sets of bar stud mounts. Can I just utilize the 2nd set of holes? Has anyone done this? The case is pre-drilled and tapped, the cover is partially pre-drilled. No idea what year this was manufactured as the data plate is missing.

One set is for the big Stihl mount studs and the other is for husky mount. It may mess his bar and chain length up

I pulled the cylinder on the MS461 tonight (spark plug hole stripped). It is the same saw I replaced the broken piston in a year or two ago. Everything looks well oiled, and no sign of the filter letting fines through. Yet the piston looks pristine on the exhaust side, but scratched up on the intake side. There is no classic wear spot near the bottom, just scratched all the way from top to bottom.

I previously opened the muffler and removed the carb limiters, but I'm going to set the high a little richer before I return it to him. I still think these 461s are a little plagued with heat issues.

If anyone can explain this unusual wear pattern on the intake side of the piston, please do. The machine lines on the exhaust side of the piston are clear as day, and it looks almost brand new (but a little stained).

I'll post some pics.

I know it goes against what many have said (they like to dry test bearings), but I will not rotate the bearing in an Asian clone till I flush it with WD 40. IMO, testing them before flushing them can ruin them. I have just seem too much crap come out of them, and too many metal filings in the crank case, etc.

It's just kinda like ya gotta know what your dealing with, they don't keep these things clean. I pretend that Jason assembled them!
Lol. Yea I've already cleaned up the case haves the bearings are sooper smooth on tem

I thought the same so I placed a 28” Tsumura light bar and 92dl chain on the case; it appears to be just fine for slack adjustment, chain length and oiling. Won’t know 100% until its running but at this point doesn’t appear to be an issue.

Probably just high hours

No reason Hi hours would leave the intake side scratched top to bottom (not some wear at the bottom) and the exhaust side will all machine marks, clear as day.

I think mdavlee is correct, either the briefly straight gassed it, or had a loose air filter that they subsequently cleaned up. The owner works long hours, but sharpens his chains and cleans his air filters EVERY DAY. He generally works a 4-5 man crew, and he never knocks off before dark. He constantly complains, no matter how much he trains them, the employees abuse the saws.

Yea all they care about is getting to the next job and filling up that wallet with cash so the saw's get trashed and the boss is the one with a bunch of broken saws most of the saw's I work on is from my friend's with tree services and I still shake my head at times wondering how did they do this or brake that. Lol

Sharpened some chains and put a new starter rope in the 038. Was pretty short and a pain to start that way.

One set is for Large Stihl 3002 mount and the other set is for Large Husky D009 mount bolts. It look like your damaged one is to the 3002 mount hole.

D009 gives you more options for bars so I'd just order up a set of those studs and carry on like it never happened.

I can only concur with what’s already been said. I have a 9000 and a 9010 both running D009 studs in the front holes. Most D009 bars have rather long slots in them, so no usually no issues there.

The only time I’ve had to use longer chains is if I’m using a bar for Stihl D025 mount, and it has a shorter slot. My Oregon lightweight bar is like that. The adapter and the shorter slot usually needs 2 more dl than normal.

Got a couple saws ready for two GREAT Friends. They are both Wounded Warriors and very DESERVING.
First is a 550xp that’s been ported and is a REAL HOT ROD and a super light Big Saw Attitude to it. Running 3/8 full comp 20 and has turned 12,9k buried in Pine.
Next is a totally rebuilt 365 Special. Bearings, seals, gaskets, top end, Modded Walbro carb, ported 75cc p/c, Hi Top plastics. Very SMOOTH running saw and GREAT POWER.

I’d like to Wish Jace and Mark a Very Merry Christmas......Enjoy Brothers!!!
