Autopsy report, Shawn speaking: Hmm.... Interesting..... I’ve found that this 661 has a choked throat syndrome during its life time of operation..... Not sure what these rubber rings are doing in there.

Further inspection of the deceased reveals a broken spine, ruptured stomach, and a damaged brain.....

Conclusion, this saw had a hard life that came to an abrupt end at the blade of a skidder.

The few good parts left shall be donated to other 661’s in need.

Those rubber washers are supposed to be there. They must keep the boot from collapsing or turbocharge the air or sumptin

So, I should leave them in there if I see them?

So far, 3 saws I’ve taken apart had the washers out of place in the boot.

This one has 2? o_O

Lol. I’ve seen more without than with the washers.
There’s an updated boot that is stiffer and doesn’t use them. I’d opt for that. Or just put it back together with the old one, with or without the washers

Knock it off man, you're scaring me! I take it you have fixed devil tapes before?
A few. There not that bad, just a little annoying. Helpful hint though wear gloves when you get to fixen em. That tape is sharper than you would think!

They are "supposed" to be there to keep the boot from collapsing... Right up until they get ingested into the saw and trash the bearings, seals, piston and rings.
I have a low hour unit that suffered that fate.

No excuse for that stupidity. These 661’s are supposed to be Pro grade saws but they’re built like cheap saws.

I "cleaned" off my bench last night and found I actually had a 4th 50 foot tape hiding on the bench! After carefully examining everything, I need 6 "uprights", 5 nylon roller bits, 1 50' refill, two of those 19" extension things, 2 extra rivets for an extension, 1 75' refill, and I need to figure out how to tell whether the two newer big tapes are 75 or 100 footers so I can get refills for them. The old one was marked 975, but the new guys don't have the length stamped on them. Will either a 100' or a 75' refill work in them?

Bailey's is a little pricey on some stuff, but I've always been happy with their service.
Costs are up everywhere across the board......

Finished up the little CS-3450. New bar installed. Cut up a little tree that came down during Henri. Ran excellent. Had it cut up in about 15 minutes.

Test ran the roadside find and I think I'll also dive into the carb, a couple of times I hit the tall weeds it wanted to die, but after that it started running okay. I just want to make sure the carb is clean. Found that I also have a good governor spring on a mower in the junk pile that'll work on the roadside find as well (the one on it now is a bit stretched out)

I get to try and cut an ID groove inside a face groove, while up against a tight tolerance turn, using brazed-on/welded up tooling. Hooray for one-off parts. I swear I am gonna pay my mortgage off and just work at a gas station. 20 years of making chips has made me hate this. Oh, and the part is stainless steel. 20210902_105826.jpg

One of my 661s had a stiff white plastic washer in there, looked oem.

Just put the finishing touches on this Jonsered 2165. I bought the saw with an AM 70cc top end and replaced it with a used OEM 48mm jug I found on fleabay for $30. I want to give a shout-out to Stump Shot for doing the machine work on the jug…I did the port work myself (first time doing a real port job). I will try to make a video of it soon. I might go back into it to raise the primaries a couple degrees depending on how it runs.39A84141-C340-43A3-8B8E-A94D0A993714.jpeg
