What oil is best? and what ratio?

I want to know which one for regular cutting work.

If they're clean the saw is tuned too rich. There should be some build up and a wash pattern The wash can be a little wet but if the whole top is it's tuned too rich where it's inhibiting combustion.

My 660 is tuned to 13600 and cleans up good noodling and bucking. I've tuned it over 13900 firewood cutting but still no carbon buildup on the piston....very slight burnt spot in the center?? Wonder if it's the cleaner Sunoco 110 fuel I've used in the past??

Be sure and clean all those piston crowns first...lol. Run the 800 in the 064 and 390 also to see if there's a difference in buildup. I'm curious because my 660 and 036 piston crown still looks new after using 800....two liters.

Its really because u r running rich in smaller wood and not getting the saw hot enough to combust the oil completely . The Sunoco 110 according to Ben has the wrong distillation curve for a saw and u will get less residual in the bottom and more of an incomplete combustion process in the top being washed clean. Just my opinion

Before I joined these chainsaws forums I didn't know firewood cutting was so complicated.

Dumonde seems to burn pretty clean without loading it real hard. That was cutting cookies in some 16" oak. No clue on viscosity. I'm trying to get an answer about how cold it can be used in.

The first couple tanks of dumonde kind of stunk bad when i ran it ,i think because it was burning off the old previous oil residue ,i left the same spark plug in also ,and it cleaned it up also and the electrode .

Thats my findings with 800 too. After probably 6 gallons ran through it and alot of it in 60" wood used in my 461 which was tuned to 14400, the piston crown was almost totally covered in carbon with wash marks which is what I would expect the crown to look like
