What oil is best? and what ratio?

I don't have issues with Dom about rusting. But I NEVER run my stuff with corn gas.

Yeah I should add I run E free 91 octane gas.

I do not have e-free gas available locally. I run AMSOIL Saber at 40:1 in everything and it seems to stay good for long periods of time and when a builder ripped one of my saws apart, he said the parts were well oiled. It also burns clean. It even seem to prevent the inferior bearings in Asian clone saws from failing, and one of my Asian 660s dynoed at 8.6 Hp.

I currently have 17 running saws, so some of them don't get used for long periods of time. (Different saws for different stuff). I like the 660s for milling and I have 5 of them, but sometimes I don't mill for long periods of time.

I would never say it is the best, but it works real darn well! Much, much better than the Stihl oil at 50:1 (and if you run that at 40:1 it is dirty).

When something works for me, I don't change it.

So something I've wondered for awhile if you Google running Dominator in saws it says it lacks corrosion inhibitors and fuel stabilizers. So is there an issue with that oil stuff sitting in that for a weeks? Months? Years? Sometimes I run saws non stop for a month and sometimes they sit without being touched for 3 or 4 months depending on the saw. Any issue with rust? Or is Google pulling this from something an idiot said on another form?

Eggshooter proved that a few years ago. Put several different oils onto a piece of shiny steel and set them on a shelf for a year in his damp garage. Dominator didn’t rust at all.

Oil and grease are the original rust inhibitors....

Both are made by Lubrication Technologies. The question is whether they are the same oil. I am having trouble finding the correct SDS sheet for Castrol to compare them. Interestingly, though, the Castrol JASO certificate number is suspiciously close to numbers held by Husqvarna. Maybe it is blue for a reason?

Yeah I'm aware that the addition of gas and combustion is going to change things but if nobody else has a issue running it that's good enough for me.

Actually air cooled two cycle oils dont have dedicated rust inhibitor packages. They contain some calcium or magnesium based detergent that does have some buffering capacity to neutralize combustion by product acids. I wouldn't trust any of them for more than 6 months in a damp climate. Ester oils like like K2, Dominator, R50, etc are particularly less robust at corrosion protection. This is because they use ester base oils. Esters have great biodegradability, which means they breakdown in the presence of air and water. This property also makes them less robust at protecting from corrosion.
Regardless of oil used a guy shoukd use fogging oil when storing s two cycle. Its cheap, available st Walmart and takes seconds to fog chainsaw. After having expensive motor rust on me years ago I started using it and have ever since with perfect results.
