Those bumps you are referring to like what is on the Oregon wedges disappeared on the first use on the 10 inch wedge that I had and as for the aluminium wedges the heads of those are just as malleable in hardwood as the plastic and at 50 bucks each they stay in the shop .

Gotcha on price but I have a machine and welding shop so I can make metal wedges. ;-)

Hard to keep track - we have a similar discussion going on 'another forum'.

Watched a YouTube video of a guy melting down aluminum soda cans in a homemade, driveway, forge, and casting his own wedges. I suddenly felt the need to do the same! Fortunately, I spent a little time with Google and found lots of affordable, commercially available options. Some used ones on eBay that were more expensive that new.

I ordered some of these a while back but haven't used them yet. Made in Germany.

The second is a lot thicker than a standard wedge and can provide 10 degrees of lift according to the manufacturer.

It’s for using with a top handle saw in a tree.

That's exactly what it'll be used for. I was looking for a small harness wedge for blocking down spars. I knew it was small, just didn't expect palm size.

I have the older yellow version. Called the pocket wedge.
Same size as the Notch version I believe. I put a long tether on it that I girth hitch to my flip line. Great for chunking down spars that are leaning in the wrong direction.

Good to hear you guys like them. I’ll be trying this one out on Thursday.
