Extremly good gesture Definitive Dave.:campeon:

However even though I was in before your offer I only have one Stihl and it's pre flippy caps. I hate the b@st@rds so much, I would NEVER buy a saw with them.

My hate for them came after using a pole saw. I filled it with oil....

Let's just say I'm glad that I always wear a hat... Of course no oil was spilled on the way up, it all had to pour out when the saw was directly over head.

I waisted 1/2 a hour trying to get that damn POS to seat properly.

If pole saws were not so dang expensive I'd have bent the thing over my knee and tossed it across the field.

Not all flippy caps are equally awful. Some are substantially more awful than others.

My neighbor has an early 4 mix Stihl pole saw I used a few times until I bought an Echo, (pretty nice BTW). It generally took 1-2 min. to get each cap to seat upon refueling and then sometimes fell out. On one occasion it broke and I had to purchase another one. In 45 years of running equipment, I have NEVER had a screw cap have a catastrophic failure, but then that is just me. Flippy caps are the spawn of the devil.

I don't see the problem with flippies. If you can't figure them out, maybe you shouldn't be running a chainsaw, because it's not that difficult.

Yep. This. NEVER had a problem, just gotta make certain I've got it down tight, always have so far. That said, I'm going to order a couple of sets from Dave just in case.

A flippy cap is an underachieving piece of chit. Of this there is no doubt. Absolute garbage.

But because it was designed by Stihl, guys are like...
Oh, having gas in your crotch isn't that bad. Grow a pair...
Moo fukin hoo. Sheesh.

Ok, now that you've made your position clear, you're not allowed to whine if you have any flippy cap related incidents. But you probably never will because you're not one of the many people that find them to be more difficult than a screw on cap.

Now let's discuss those despised outboard clutches. I also hate those...

You can always justify another saw.

I like inboard clutches. I have picked up saws and trimmers with screw on caps and dumped oil and gas because I was distracted and never screwed them on. Anyone that hasn't is lieing. :couch:

i dont like the outboard clutches myself they are a pain in butt to put bar and chain on because when i get home from cutting the bars come off and saws set on a shelf the bars and chains hang from nails saves alot of room

Already have a fallen soldier. I put it on and it went snap instantly :(

I went in fine like a normal cap but when I turned it to close it it exploded.

I will contact him through evilbay. I have had other good dealings with him.

I think product feedback is essential to the forum whether it be good bad or ugly. When I test a product, I just report my findings. Some people will already have opinions and no matter what is said their mind won't be changed. That's fine. Different strokes...
So, if these caps are going to have mechanical failures, it'll be good to find out early in the process. One busted cap doesn't mean much but a dozen might...
I'm looking forward to testing them but am leaving in the morning for the Amazon. If there's any of it left standing. lol.

I like the caps so far. I'm hoping it was a fluke deal that this one did this. I haven't lost faith in them yet.

Installed mine, tight fit. I'll be dragging the damn flippy caps along just in case. I like the design. I wonder if lubricating the o-ring and center would help? Things usually don't work well when they're shoved in dry...
