I photographed this one at "not one of my parks" but at a state park.
Not sure if they were thinking about a sizwell or what? Tree was already gone.

Sizweels work better when there’s hinge for it to pull on.

Geez. You’re also spot on about there needing to be some solid wood to take the pull.

A lot of pictures on here are scary, but this looks like somebody at the point of the Dunning-Kruger curve that just doesn’t know what they don’t know, which makes them just that much more dangerous.

I went to look at a job that I got underbid on. Roadside Ash trees. I drove by them while it was going on. The guy was wearing a tracksuit and a brush cutter face shield. He also looked like he weighed a good twenty stone.

Anyway, this is the quality of the man who does it cheaper.

This is my favourite one. You have heard of "notch and drop" right?
Well this is called "notch and walk".
He just put a (bad) face cut in the biggest tree of the lot and *f-worded off 🤣🤣. Bear in mind these are roadside trees with Ash dieback.

I was also back at the place that started this thread. They have been at it again, here are some of their first class felling cuts. They barberchaired a big Ash.
It really comes down to you get what you pay for and cheaper is not always better. Sometimes it is best to pay a little more to get the job done correctly, usually less headache in the end and a better product.

I am no where near a professional cutter, but I think I would be embarrassed to leave some of those stumps. I would have taken a few minutes to flatten off the stumps and hide the crappy job I did :D

This pic got a bunch of the keyboard jockey experts on "another site" all spewing bullchit. Too bad they were clueless as it was cut just as intended.

Anyone want to take a stab at why it was cut the way it was?
