In 1946 Robert McCulloch purchased a plot of land that had been a bean field in the middle of nowhere, across the street from what was then known as Mines Field. His operations had formerly been in a cramped facility in Milwaukee, WI.

Robert McCulloch wrote the first name for each recipient of this letter. I have this one that was sent to Robert Jackson, and another (copy) of one sent to someone named Cliff if I remember correctly.

They had to have done very well selling the L.A. property. My grandfather when in the Navy around 1930 was taken on a sales trip by a real estate agency. Said you could see a big 20th Century Fox sign from the residential lots they were selling for $150.

Interesting find of the day:

Unfinished saw block. It has a sleeve but is otherwise unfinished. I've seen two of these in person - a CP-125 block and a Mc-91. You get to cut your own ports and machine and sleeve the needle roller race on the PTO side.

Would these have been cast offs or would this have been considered a project cylinder for the die-hard enthusiast to finish up before using?
I know of a few kart guys that would order unfinished blocks so they could set their own timing and port shapes. Some of the dealers did this as well for the custom saws being built in the late 60's through the late 70's. The cranks I don't know about although there were a few guys ordering roughly-finished cranks to make stroker kits out of.

The crankshaft is on its way here now. I tried contacting the seller to see if they would make a package deal but no reply, hopefully no one will jump in on the unfinished block and I will get that one here as well.

I've got it on my watchlist Mark, so I can help make sure it ends up in the Dike McCulloch Museum.

That is cool to know!! Well beyond what I can do, but cool to know otherwise!

The cranks were cast? I would have thought they would be stronger forged.
