Howdy Mark.
This is the saw I asked you about a few weeks back.
So going by that, I'm missing the spring and also the eyelets?
Also see the little round plug that came out of the oil tank, is this a stray part?
I presume you can make the spring out of some steel sheet?
Cheers.
I have had the spring plates remanufactured. I have the eyelets also. If you need them just shoot me a message.

To revisit the timing of a reed valve Mac engine if I'm not mistaken the term "marvericking the points" was discovered by an early kart racer I think Duffy Livingstone .What ever or who ever found it discovered how fast those old engines could run . I don't think however it's desirable to use on a chainsaw that could have been made 50 years ago .The life expectency on one running on alkie/nitro was something like one or two hours racing before it needed either rebuilt or blew itself to kingdom come .

McCulloch 85583 "L" shaped spline wrench

Got one plus the socket ,E-bay a long time ago from a person in I think Las Vegas who must have cornered the market with NOS when McCulloch circled the drain .Evidently she didn't keep good records and said I never paid for it .Could have been an error or just a scam .I however keep good records and sent her the stub of the US Postal money order and proof it had been cashed in . BTW this was long before pay pal .
I've kept that method of payments on anything I find on the forums .You might be dealing with a scam artist you have never met a thousand miles away .Recently as a matter of fact a scammer near Pittsburgh tried to get to get me again .I had to inform him what postal fraud is and what the results could be .I got my money order back but not the saw .Fact at saw fest I met the guy who bought it and it was a piece of junk .

Cheers Max.
I cleaned pump gasket which looks in good shape and put a tiny smear of grease on the circle rib on gasket, reassembled filled tank and seems smoke has gone.
Saw starts and runs like a top so will put it in some wood this weekend.

The 6-10 has low compression, the 55 loads up and floods and the 797 leaks at the block to gas tank. Getting busy and will have to put up out of the way and get back to them another day. image.jpgBeautiful day for picture.

Unless I'm mistaken that saw to the left looks some what like a 6-10 except from my view point it's left hand start .Unless the parts got changed or the rope is missing 1751542851225.png

Bling - Thanks to AWise_mac_nut for bringing this to my attention.

I had a piece of .404 chisel with the McCulloch "Mountain" logo on it but if anyone has a small section of square ground chisel with the cMc logo I would love to add a piece to this display.

While I was on eBay I also found this pocket knife/letter opener. My wife gave me the tie tack on Father's Day.

If you still had a piece like the one in the photo, you can grind it square - this way from Super Pro Round (SPR) you get Super Pro Square (SPS).

Edit:
Now I caught on that you rather meant that there was a different logo, not the way the chain was sharpened. ( This is probably because I read almost the same post in the other thread).

I could manage the round to square for a few links, but I am not planning to make the effort on the new logo chain, I will see if I can come up with a section of the cMc logo stuff.
