I've been looking for a 101 for years and haven't found one yet .My idea was to use a 250 also .On the 800 with the exception of the SP81 which has points ignition I think parts like coils will interchange .with the 82 cc engines ..However on one I used an 850 cylinder on an 805 But because I think of the crankshaft I had to space out the coil to get it to run dead center with the flywheel magnets . I'll say this the 82's have plenty of power although don't run as fast as say a more modern saw .They will handle a32" bar with no problems .

Back to the 82's.I have two in operating condition ,an SP 81 and an 805 with a complete early 850 engine under the housings .The sp 81 has a slight edge over the 805 because I've bumped the timing up a tad bit by setting the points a tad wider .As well I have the remains of the 805 engine I managed to cook with a straight gas prime,don't ask I just plain f---d it up .Eventually I'll find enough parts to build up another one .That's the way restoration seems to go .You look high and low to find the parts then completely out of the blue when you aren't looking one falls right into your lap .

The D-44 family, 1-7X, and 7XX models are an easier swap since they are all the Super Series engine models like the 101 kart engines.





The 7XX models had an automatic oiler (pulse operated) on top of the oil tank.

It'd be easy enough to find a chassis for it if you don't want to chop up your S250 (I agree, a good condition S250 is a dandy runner).

As Mark points out - any of the super-series chassis would be an easy swap. I can probably come up with a 7** series chassis.

I didn’t know a super 250 was much of a saw, I could have gotten one locally for 75$ running but not real pretty last fall.

Any of the early chassis saws will handle a kart motor - one of the guys in a Facebook McCulloch group put a Mc-91b in a Mac 15 chassis.

You wouldn't want to cut with it everyday though - you'd get white finger disease in short order.

I don't doubt it, while a cool thought, I think I will leave my 200...I mean my friend will probably leave his 200 like it is!
