I have of yet tried to figure out why McCulloch ever used needle bearings on the piston sides long after any ever even tried it .However though over the years they had the starters on both sides of the saws for some reason .Some times you get confronted with the old McCulloch rash, needled cylinder caused by a bearing failure .Some time they can be saved more often not so .

Al,I think the only reason why Mac used a RH start was just to stand out in the crowd of other saw mfrs.

For all you 125 aficionado's I have finally made up reproduction stickers for the Super Pro 125, and 125C saws.

Should be the best reproduction available as far as looking correct.

I also am working on some 10 series early style stickers. Some are very accurate but the really early style I'm making are not embossed like the originals. These are run but need to be cut....Hopefully sometime this next week.

Those are really great looking!!! I am not happy that I don't have a McCulloch yet to match those. I will be watching to see what you come up with for the older 10-10s as I do have two of those saws. I have the metal plate for my 200 and it has the embossed "McCulloch 200", unfortunately it is pretty banged up. I am looking for a 3D printer that I can make a positive and negative for and press my own. I saw a guy do it for his motorcycle and it turned out really good.

I'm trying to figure out what chain is needed on a ProMac 510 (37.7cc saw).

From what I'm finding it appears to be 79DL's @ 0.050 , but I'm not sure regarding the rest of the specs.

I am guessing 3/8 low profile chain. You can measure between three rivets and divide by 2 and find out.

I didn't think about that, but it will make sense with the number of drivers and probably a 16 inch bar.

.250 is 1/4" pitch chain. 91615 should use a loop with 80 DL, I have some 81's I can cut down if you need a new chain. I also have a good supply of the 1/4" pitch cloverleaf 8T drum/sprockets.

Work on the BP-1 carpentry saw continued off and on today. While disassembling the saw I found one of the clamp screw was broken.



I was able to create a fixture to hold it securely and used my wire welder to join it back together.



McCulloch used a lot of unusual hardware, in this case 12-28 LH/RH threads, 5/32 hex on one end and 3/32" hex socket on the other end.



I rebuilt the carburetor with Old Saw Shop gaskets & diaphragms. Primer did not work so I had to take it apart by tapping threads in the plunger (6-32) and using a slide hammer and heat.



New o-rings and new cup seal, still was not pumping. I finally flipped the rubber seat over and it functioned normally. First few pumps discharged a bit of black residue from the deep, dark passageways.

About that 1/4" chain at one time Bryce out in Washington State had a whole bunch of it used at one time for Stihl 015's . I had at least two dozen Mac branded used for Mini Macs I got in a box full of chains the frieght charges were more than the chains .Must have been 35-40 pounds with some 1/2" loops and .404 by .058 Partner chains .I had given away most of those 1/4 " chains . The only little saw I own uses 1/4" and that
is a double trigger Homeliite XL 2 I think .

Thanks Mark for the chart.

I found some Oregon R25AP @84dl in a 2 pack that I'm going to try shortening.
I'm not to sure how good the old tie straps will work, but we'll see.

Come down for the open house next weekend (28/29 March) and we can make up your chains. I have a few spare McCulloch presets for the .250 chain.

I picked up this PM610 back a couple of weeks ago.The seller found it stashed away in his shed that he said he took in trade a bunch of yrs.ago & didn't remember much about it.I got the saw & put a new fuel filter in it along with the correct plug.I fueled it up & within a few pulls it was running,but the carb was way out of tune.About a week later I decided to put a bar & chain on it & found the bar adjuster was missing.I found one on a used oil tank & went to put it on & saw that I needed to pull the clutch in order to do so.Well upon a 2nd glance I noticed there was alsdo no clutch.Luckily I had a couple clutches on hand.Beforehand I decided to see if the oiler worked - it didn't.I was hoping that the oil line was still intact & it was.Come to findf out the oil pick up was crusted over with dried up old oil.After I cleaned off the screen I was able to blow & suck through it & it worked great after cleaning.The saw has good compression & runs like a champ.
