I was looking to see what was available in the 24" - 28" range. My saws came with shorter, I believe 18" - 20" bars.

This is good to know, I was hoping there was a standard, but knowing there isn't at least narrows down possibilities in other bar mount types with modifications. So, looks like I need to measure my bar studs and then I can get a better idea of what might work best.
I have a nos 24 inch mcculloch bar with the correct mount if you would be interested.

The spur sprockets supplied on the D-44 and 200 model saws were either 7/16" pitch (early saws) or .404. Note that the drums are different between the D-44 and the 200, D-44 has a 9/16" crankshaft diameter at the clutch and the 200 is 5/8". Relatively easy to find rim type drums with bearings to fit the 9/16" shafts, but you are normally left with a brass bushing on the 5/8" drums. There are a few rim type drums that will fit the 5/8" shafts but .404 spur are much more plentiful.

She’s out of commission for the time being (like the 10-10’s carburetor) 😢

😔 Hey, so is our ol’ Ford. 1989 F250 7.3 diesel. We had it on the road a little bit in the past couple years we’ve owned it. Currently it’s sitting until we can afford to take the trans out for the 5th time to replace the overdrive bands and shift pack solenoid. My Silverado is also out of commission and jacked up for new rear brakes. Nice truck though sir.

Very nice! Biggest thing for me is wheel bearings and rotors/hubs. Good old Holley carburetor is great unlike like Walbro in my Mac. All those years of sitting may have caused some issues to arise.

I noticed that after filling the tank and it sitting for a couple of days, my 10-10 reeked of gas and some had pooled under the carburetor. Some on the outside of the saw. The air filter also reeked of gas. Trying to figure out of carburetor needs work or the fuel line needs to be replaced. Could even be some kind of gasket that’s compromised. Anyone ever had this issue?

We also replaced the bearings+rotors in our truck. Good luck with both projects.

Thanks man. I learned a great deal about classic cars/trucks from the older generations. Hoping to learn more about outdoor equipment as I work on my old Mac. Also I need to cut my teeth on all this because I'm getting older and it's that time. The Army has taught me a lot, but nothing about how to work on chainsaws 😂

First of all the polled up gas in the air box is from the gas line. Macs are natorious for leaking fuel because the line is below the top of the tank. Even the new versions of the fuel lines leak. What you need to do is to buy the leak proof line kit that "max the mac man" sells on ebay. I put one on my 7-10, and it hasn't leaked sense then. Btw thanks for serving!

I'll definitely check that out. I've scoped out so much stuff on his storefront. Thanks for your support. I'm an officer so finding time at home to work on my mac is like looking for a snowman in the sahara. I just need these stencils to paint my bar already! 😂

I will definitely be keeping you in my prayres. Those fuel lines are great. The only thing is that the fuel filter he includes is terrable. You need a 3/16 fuel filter.

The OEM tank gaskets in the 10 Series saws were cork and would often shrink over time if they were setting empty. Sometimes, leaving them soaking with fuel will swell them back up and they will stop leaking, more often they must be replaced. I like the current Viton fuel tank gaskets that are currently available but they will not work on saws like the 6-10 that don't have a full channel for the gasket to set in. I've found it necessary to use a cork gasket and a sealant with those.

If the fuel line is leaking where is comes through the tank, a few wraps of Teflon thread tape will normally take care of it.

Thanks for the information Mr. Heimann! I didn’t know about the cork gasket. The saw was ultimately replaced after decades of service by a Stihl, and forgotten about in a shop attic. It sat bone dry. I will definitely look into replacing the gasket. My father is a pipe fitter by trade, so he has endless teflon tape that I can use to doctor up the fuel line.

The AV models (CP55, CP70, SP60, SP70, SP80/81, PM850, PM800, etc.) are sealed with epoxy and are nearly impossible to take apart in case of a leak so I use Red Cote on those.

On a rare condition I find it necessary to use Red Cote on a tank with a gasket, but that has only happened once or twice so far.

Duke's Saw Shop sells gaskets for the 10-10, I just picked up a kit and the rubber gasket (that replaced the cork gasket for the fuel tank) fits great. I still have the original cork gasket, but it is a bit dry. I am going to try to resoak it and see if that does anything for it. One thing I found out is that the air filter that came with this does not fit my saw, so in the future, I will get the kit without the air filter for a few dollars less for my other 10-10.

This set should be right up my alley. I bought a couple of air filters from Duke’s (granted they are a big part of this website) and the quality is second to none. Thanks for sharing, this saved me from a lot of hassle!

I agree, very happy with stuff I bought from Duke's. I don't doubt the air filter is quality, its just I have two older style 10-10s that take a dombed filter and not the flatter filter. So now I have a flat filter for a later model 10-10 I am sure I will get in the future at some point :D

I've been able to add the bump for the linkage by placing a tall socket where needed and gently tap down around it with a plastic hammer. It is touchy to keep the flock from dislodging. Or make a pair of wood forms (top and bottom) sides to reshape it.
