Update: I swapped clutches and installed the one with the 64857 pawls and it grabs every time now. Pulled like 20 times and no turn over, not even a pop...then I remembered "the switch"...yes, that one. Put it in the "ON" position, two pulls and it fired up. I have put it on the shelf for the moment until the carb kit shows up. Now to work on cleaning up some of my other Mac projects!
Yep I've done that countless times:D The worst thing is a few of my mac's kill switches move a little bit, but not compleetly on, and then a little bit more.

Need some help with this bar, what models dose it fit? D196?
This what I found online:

"The McCulloch bar with part number 36224 is a 24-inch bar with a .063" gauge. This bar is designed to fit chainsaws that use the D196 mount pattern. The D196 mount is commonly found on various chainsaw models from brands like Homelite, Alpina, John Deere, Olympyk, and Poulan. Therefore, the McCulloch 36224 bar should be compatible with chainsaws that require a D196 mount."

Various Pro Mac models like the 655, 700, 800, 805, 850, 1000, etc. (should) have a D196 mount pattern.

Here is an Oregon bar with roughly the same specifications. Note the Oregon has a .050" gauge and not .063".

The 10 Series and 600 Series saws have 5/16" bar studs and use a D176 mount. The large frame saws have 3/8" bar studs and use the D196 mount.

It is possible to modify a D176 to make it work with a large frame saw by enlarging the bar slot and the oiler passages, or you can use some bar stud spacers and put the D196 bars on the smaller saws.

Does anyone have a flat back to sdc addapter part# 83722 that they would sell? I can make one if I need to, but I figured I would check before I spent 5 hours on the drill press and die grinder.

I have 25 of them in a bag in the attic somewhere, but I haven't been able to find them for over a year...

Ryan Zuppe was selling some 3D printed ones on eBay but he's since pulled the listing. I might still have one up there but I'd have to look.

I think I've got one of Ryan's 3D printed ones at the ready if you want to try it...

Thanks for the offer. Is it plastic or metal? I would like to try to keep it as close to corect as possable. I'll see if mark can find one first.

This one is plastic. I get you about wanting original parts - if Mark finds his bag of adapters, I need one too...

The flywheels will interchange but the 440 flywheel has pawls for the starter and the 795 does not. 795 has the pawls in the clutch.

440 calls for 60251 and 795 calls for 60251A for the crankcase bottom cover (stuffer). The gaskets used on both are the same so I'd guess the parts are interchangeable as well.

Thanks for the info. Let me know if you run into one of those adapters.
