My parents have always been meticulous with manuals and such for pretty much everything they purchase.
They were cleaning out some old file boxes and they found the owners manual and warranty card for one of the Mac 610's that are now on my shelf.
Thought it was kinda neat.

The purchase location is rather interesting as well. A person forgets the range of things available at places like Penny's and Sears back then.

Very cool find. I have the original receipt, warranty, brochure, and paperwork for my Shindaiwa 300 which a family friend bought new.

One of my great uncles ordered a Tommy gun right out of the Sears catalog in the 30's. He picked it up at the local Sears in San Antonio.

I have a McCulloch 300 in the display with the original receipt and warranty card.
I wonder what was traded in to get $70 taken off the bill. That 300 is in great shape, I just picked up a 200 that needs some work, but is in solid shape, needs to be cleaned and painted, a fun project to work on for sure!!

I have the original instruction manual for my grandfather's Craftsman 2.3 (Poulan 25). It is really detailed with lots of photos. It shows how once upon a time Sears actually gave a crap about being a first class company. When I worked there in the late 90's they clearly did not and now we see the results of that.

Ah yes, the good old days of Sears & Roebuck. Long before I was here. Many decades at that. It’s amazing the things you could order through a catalog or buy at a department store in those days. I can remember going in Sears as a little kid in the late 2000s, and staring in awe at the endless Craftsman displays. I blinked and the stores were all gone. I still give props to my grandpa for picking up his 10-10A from JCPenney so long ago.

I must say though, before the Mac was the biggest, baddest one of them all. Only found at Sears. The gargantuan David Bradley that belonged to my great grandfather. My grandfather said it was like trying hold up a small block Chevy while cutting. But those were the days when Sears actually cared about the quality of products.

Time to work some magic
Post what it looks like when you are done, I may have to do the same thing. Trying to figure out which .404 Oregon bar will fit my D-44 or 200, not sure if a D176 will work or something else.

I will definitely make a post upon completion. You may be able to find some of that bar mount/fitment information on the Chain Saw Collectors Corner website.

I already have some Rust oleum sunburst yellow handy for the stencils. It’s a very close match to Mac yellow. I like the Oregon design on this bar, but won’t regret painting it black in preparation for the final product.

D176 mount fits the 10 Series with the 5/16" bar studs, the large frame saws have 3/8" bar studs and use a different, larger mount. There is no standard Oregon reference for the large mount McCulloch saws although the D196 will work. A D009 is also close but the bar studs are 9mm and not 3/8". I'm sure a D009 could be made to fit but I have not done that myself so far.

A D176 mount can be made to work on the large frame saws by filing or milling the bar slot to accommodate the 3/8" bar studs and modifying the oiler hole slightly to line up with the oiler outlet on the bigger saws. It take 15-20 minutes with a couple of good files (flat file & 1/4" round file) to achieve the proper results. Someone before me worked the bar slot with a disc grinder, I corrected the adjuster/oiler slot to match the larger saws.

You can also look for one of the older Oregon "Universal Mount" bars.

What length bar do you want?
I was looking to see what was available in the 24" - 28" range. My saws came with shorter, I believe 18" - 20" bars.

There is no standard Oregon reference for the large mount McCulloch saws
This is good to know, I was hoping there was a standard, but knowing there isn't at least narrows down possibilities in other bar mount types with modifications. So, looks like I need to measure my bar studs and then I can get a better idea of what might work best.

This is good to know as it appears in Oregon's current catalog, all they offer for .404 chain is D009 bars.
Just get a 3/8 tip , if you want that pitch , I switch tips for different conditions or applications,
