Okay , this will soften compression because it will fire early? You can try closing the points a few thousandths of an inch, try 0.015-0.016" fully open and see if that helps.

Try a larger prime, if it’s just a trickle, that’s not enough, something close to a tablespoon worthsorry had page open and didn’t see your post. Yes using prime bottle. We were so close but Leary of that handle and it started to get buggy and was going to rain, but we were excited about how it was sounding.
It will retard the timing a little, make it not fire to early so it won’t kick back. I find over fueling it with a good prime can help too. It usually won’t kick if it a little overfueled.Okay , this will soften compression because it will fire early?
How are you trying to start it from the ground ? If that’s not working for you , use the saw’s PH weight to ur advantage, rest bar tip on a log and push the saw away from you as you pull hard , and as Nathan said use a good size prime ,sorry had page open and didn’t see your post. Morning Squarground, yes starting from ground. Action was becoming much more fluid and may attempt starting in that manner but until totally turns over smooth I’ll continue this way. We did attempt as I instructed little brother that this is how to turn over like a pro and he tried then we laughed. How are you trying to start it from the ground ? It’s much easier, doing it the way I described if you’re not strong armed, but hopefully your successful,Morning Squarground, yes starting from ground. We are giving another go after work. I’m confident and little brother is fifteen years my junior so he can keep pulling a bit longer than me. Once it rumbles a few times I hope like Big Mac said that it becomes less lean. Felt that was what was happening. Then I will learn techniques on proper starting. Expected a much easier pull with decomp. It’s much easier, doing it the way I described if you’re not strong armed, but hopefully your successful,
I found I am missing two pieces from the fuel pump. #45 & #46. Mark, @heimannm, do you have these?

I also see my carburetor is a 4-30 & the fuel pump is from a 3-25 or early 4-30. I’m trying to figure this saw out. I found this when I went to replace the seal on the clutch side.

It was never all the way in.
I know how it's supposed to look when it's in the saw.I guess I'll need surgery to have a few more appendages attached so I can get it together.

They are both the same just one side trimmed off. McCulloch changed things up as usual a couple models in. They both do the same thing.Good new, bad news...
I have two parts under 19257, good news is you can make the one from the other if needed, bad news is if you don't have one to begin with I don't know how to determine which one you actually need.

I don't have any 19645 in my inventory but I will look at some parts saws next week and see what I can find.

Good morning, I have the girl running. Changed points and set to fifteen thousand. Cleaned coil and mounts once again and used an envelope instead of thicker card stock for coil gap. Cleaned carburetor and made sure gasket I made lines up with impulse hole. Went from yellow spark to big old blue and started in three pulls.
+1It sounds like all you need now is a 54" roller-nose bar and square-ground .404", a hickory shirt, a tin hat, and a cigar and you're ready to go fall timber...
