I had the bright idea at one time I could get a big displacement McCulloch to be a racer ,didn't work .Then reality sat in .these things are made for big wood. They don't even come into to there own until the wood gets over three feet in diameter, then they shine .

I picked up some Mac stuff this morning, One of them is a 1-43 with no clutch cover, the other is very similar I grabbed it to take the clutch cover from, not sure of the model though.

The smaller sign has a fun Homelite mascot on it I havent seen before.

What is left of the front handle, left hand start, the empty center pull start casing on top, and muffler would jive for a 1-50. Which is better to rebuild...not sure. Guessing the 1-43, but will let the experts chime in and give a "definitive dave" answer. I've seen some mention that some models had better internals as with piston pin riding on a bushing and others having needle bearings. Heck may be no big deal either way and just rebuild what you thinks look best.

None of the saws I picked up today was stuck but the Sachs 112 has really low compression, it needs a piston.
These macs are filthy, fund them under two different benches :)
Both are kinda neat looking and seem to be the same cc range, I will get some cleaning done to see what's missing and what they look like under the layers of grease and grass
'Honestly I got sucked In by the sign and just found the saws while exploring

That drive side cover on the 1-50 has no adjuster, there is a screw on the crankcase that might carry over to the 1-43, you will need a bar with the divot.
Best keep the 1-50 intact.

Strange how they did that .The Super 44A I have had the gizmo on the crankcase side plus provisions on the cover side ,with the cutout on the bar .The bar ended up on a 650 gear drive, the 44A got a roller nose 24" from a 250,the 250 got an NOS 18" hardnose,50 thou slot and 3/8" chain .The tighening gizmo from the S 44A is in the top of one of my tool boxes .Musical bars not to be confused with musical chairs .

Gotta big Thankyou too Mark Heimann who got me a tank gasket for my 10-10S
Excellent service and got me out of jail View attachment 53407
Is that rubber, or traditional cork?

There's someone on ebay repopping them out of rubber and including a cap gasket for like 10 bucks, I want to try one.

Maybe get comment from @Steve. He tried one and mentioned that worked fine. He would have more time on the gasket now to see if still satisfied with it.

The rubber gasket fit phenomenally well! No leaks yet. I got one left Kevin. Trade you it for a 7-10?
