7-10 will hand it to a PM700. I've made the test with my well used 7-10 (with new rings) against a very fresh PM700 and the 7-10 was clearly the faster saw. If I remember correctly, it was a hickory cant.

Riggs Sales or e-bay gotfishon for the rubber gaskets and KY it is. Buy them in a batch of 5 for $29.95, that makes them $6 each and free shipping.

640 is correct, the 840 would have a "Super" series flywheel cover. The 440 and the 640 were sort of "cross over" top tank saws based on the 300/380 front tank saws; the top tanks were must less prone to issues with boiling fuel and vapor lock.

Just back from Brasil, found this waiting for me...

Compression feels very strong and the overall condition is great. I will give it a good cleaning and replace the missing brake parts.

Get this...

Sweet saw Mark! That probably cost a pretty penny to get it here from across the pond, it looks like it was worth it though

Picked this one up a while back. Gave her a carb kit and runs excellent.

Lee, those 660's are an aggressive saw to be sure. RandyMac spoke highly of them for a reason. They ain't exactly slow for a gear drive. Mine has wears a 36" bar and could easily go to 48" or possibly more. Super 250 speed combined with even more torque. It's about like having ano 066 gear drive Stihl, but cooler, much cooler. Great exhaust note too.

McCulloch 660's 3.jpg

Seems to me there is a 3rd one around home somewhere as well, 2 are runners and one needs work as the air box is loose.

There he is...

Guess I need to keep better track of my stuff.

I guess the one in the box is only a 650, I have another one of those as well. It just sits up there looking all yellow.

You and I saw the difference between a 660 and 650. That was a good learning experience, though sorry you were on the 650 end of it Mark. Nothing wrong with a 650 though, plenty strong.

I've run 3 or 4 660s, owned the one in the photo. It had been rebuilt, then declared surplus shortly after, I bought for $40, including 48'' bar, new half inch chain,
660s were being phased out and replaced with SP125s, they kinda slow at it. We needed one, but couldn't deal with the *a-hole at the warehouseThe crew.jpg , so we put a 60'' bar with .404 on one, ran it in OG DF that had laid in a creek bed for a decade or so. It did well enough, ran out of oil fast.

The 600 Series are also known as cinderblocks for their weight and styling.

A real 6-10 is a more desirable saw.

Super 6-10 1.jpg

My new favorite saw.

Not yet, I just got to it today. Tore it down to the short block to clean it up and replace the anti-vibe mounts. Going back together now. This one may not have been taken apart before today.

Going back together nicely.
