Anyone have a 125 they are looking to get rid of? I dunno if I could even afford one bit I'd like to see what yall have and prices.
I'm actually afraid someone would be willing to sell one that I could afford......

The BBT dropped off a PM850 today, Ron Woods had it put together and sent as a retirement gift.
I am very pleased and will run it tomorrow. I love 850s.

Its would be fun to see a fair fight with the 57 against a 10-10 or 10-10S. Both with 3/8 chain.

sawfun----

I've never seen a 57 but I do have a 70 .Nice saw but it won't hold a candle to a 700 .

Since the McCulloch name is owned by Husqvarna just like Poulan, it is a fair guess they have a lot in common.

That doesn't surprise me much. A 700 is a tough saw to beat, even with an 044 when the bars get longer.

To a point but with a draw back at times .Few years back I bucked 6 cords of dead ash in one day with a helper .I was alternating between a 700 Mac and a Stihl 038 mag .It was 94 degrees that day .The Mac did fine until I shut it off to gas it .No go,vapor locked .The Stihl always started .The Mac would again after I ran a tank through the Stihl and it had a chance to cool down .The Mac evidently was not a hot weather saw probably because of the horizontal cylinder .

Has anyone tried a 9 or 10 pin sprocket on a 797? Running 3/8 8 pin now and saw could still use more chain speed. Has torque but not much speed. No doubt because they were built to pull long bars. Running on 36" sprocket nose Oregon bar.

No but I did try a 10 pin .404 on a 125 .It pulled it but it really bogged it down . Probably a good way to break a crankshaft doing something like that .BTW one of my 125's runs a 7-.404 the other one an 8 .Funny that same bar and chain combo runs fine on an 8 pin on a Homelite 2100S with an 8 but it lacks one driver of being able to on an 8 on the Mac . Bar is a 36" Windser ,Stihl 066 mount with the chain driver count which fits an 066 .

My 101b didn't like a 8 pin in 404 so I dunno how a stock 125 could fair well. Admittedly I have not run 3/8 on any of my big Mac saws.

I've ran that 125 with a 48" on an 8 pin .404 .Fact I have to on the 2100S Homelite because that's the only configuration it came in .Keep in mind the Homey is 114 CC and the Mac is 123.

Depends on how the 101 Kart engine was ported. They did them according to what they raced .Short track, long track, road course .I'd guess if it was a short tracker it probably was high ported for RPM and big carb or not it probably would not have the low end torque as a stock 125 .On an oval, long or short you wanted them to hit max RPM about the time you hit the brakes going into a turn .They did that ,long short, with the gearing .Road course they were ported for mid range because more times than not the course didn't have enough straight track to hit max RPM

I've tried the 125 with an 8 pin 3/8" and it did not cut as fast as using .404 chain .Conversely on a 250 I found a NOS Oregon 3/8" .050 18" which BTW takes a 72 driver chain .With an 8 pin it did cut faster .Neither one of them are racers though .Just old torquers .

Not sure why your 101 doesn't like the 404-8 but mine have no problem
with that set up. I'm running a 9 pin on my geardrive with rakers at .050
and it still needs more chain. Going to try a 10 pin once I get off my butt
and order one.
I do have a stock 125 with a 60 inch Cannon running 3/8-8, It pulls it well.
I've done some rip cuts with it full bar length and I was impressed. Not fast
but keep the revs in the happy zone and it did great.

I ordered a 10 pin off eBay from Danzco just a few minutes ago. Wasn't sure wether to go 9 or 10. Seems to be losing a lot of speed with the 8 pin. If it's too slow or if it really works the saw I'll go 9.
