I so looked forward to that GTG but as fate would have it my dear lady was admitted to the hospital at that time .Extremely dangerously low hemoglobin for some reason .It could have killed her eventually, her blood couldn't carry enough oxygen .She's doing very well since, starting to act like a 30 year old actually which is not all that bad if you get my drift .

Thank you but she's not really my wife which is a long story .Her last name is Smith however and I've known her since we were in the 4th grade .She was married to one of my best friends who passed about 6 years ago and my dear Darlene about 2 years ago .Life goes on ,tough at times .We're good for each other .50 years ago when we graduated from high school neither of us ever in a million years thought this would transpire .I somehow think it was a plan from a higher power, draw your own conclusion .

This one is equipped with the original style chain, an early self sharpening version. In fact, the grinding wheel is adjusted to just touch the clutch drum to spin the wheel while sharpening the chain. I take this one to most GTG's in case someone wants to try it out. Somewhere I had a video of BP-1's racing at the spring Iowa GTG two or three years ago (AWOL and me) but I've managed to lose it somehow. Alan had a hard nose bar so when we cut down/up/down I could beat him but when he made three down cuts it was very close.

Last year at the Baraboo (WI) event there were at least three running BP-1's and another one or two on hand. I also found this 170 welder that will be one of the next projects I will be working on.

I know where one of those welders is at I am trying my hardest to get it bought. I've never seen one for sale so I'm not sure of its worth.

From conversations of the rare BP-1 from what I gather people have problems with the carb .From looking at the service manual it seems to be a rather complicated thing .

As far as the McCulloch powered welders, generators ,water pumps winches and heaven only knows how many other pieces of small equipment I don't think the numbers were all that great .As such to find any would be a rare find . Of those in my entire life time I've only seen one in operation .That being a small generator on the back of an auto wrecker used to jump start cars .
Which happened to be my 1959 Pontiac at the time .The wrecker operator told me it would crank over a diesel semi truck engine .I was impressed .

I am still hoping to find a McCulloch "Roto Bit Pruner" one day. The roto bit is like an auger bit that just chews its way through the wood.

DSC04167.1.JPG

I have the brush cutter, spur gear drill, direct drive drill, and ice/earth auger for the 33/35/39 Series saws...

I have an earth auger for the large frame direct drive saws and two different cut off saw attachments for the large frame direct drive saws as well, in addition to the Target and Stowe versions of the cut off saw.

Happy New Year to you as well Austin, let's see what you are up to.

I spent several days last week getting my workshop cleaned up following the snow blower project (see mowers & more for more on that subject) and now I'm looking forward to getting to work on some saws and related equipment in the coming weeks if I can manage to stay near home.

A few more saws to look at...

Good to know you got some cleaning done, I for one cannot function if my work space is not in order. I decided to opt out of working on the mill today but rather i spent my time doing some work on my husqvarna 350 project. I have a couple mcculloch related ideas to work on the mill with.
1. cutting out a solid oil tank cover with drilled and tapped bosses for putting on an inner spike.
2. making a velocity stack of sorts so I can use a short cone filter on certain 10-10 models. (old filter style, those suckers are $50)
As well as many non saw related projects! But I was told I was not allowed to spend too much time in the shop today so i didn't want to start any big projects.

For now I leave you with a picture of the day we moved it in. You would be amazed at how well it slid across the concrete floor!20160308_203808.jpg

I never have put all the macs in one place for a picture like Mark's above. Here are a couple cleaned up. All the yellow makes the new year's day seem sunny even though it rained off and on today.

I found these old photos again today for a reply in Another Site but thought the McGuys might be interested here as well. Combination fuel/oil container that seemed to be available only in Australia.

I was tearing into my pile of mini macs and I found one that was odd to me. It was a late model eager beaver with only a manual oil pump and a zama carb. Didn't know they came with either of those. It's always been an MDC carb and auto oil pump.

That's strange, all of the mini macs that I've worked on had manual Oilers and the automatic oiler was the option.

In my experience the MDC carburetor was on the earlier models and the ZAMA was on the later models.
