On the subject of primers, I have tried pretty diligently to take one apart and I could not make it happen. To change from the flat back to the Tillotson requires adding a spacer/adapter and another gasket to make everything line up.

You'd have to do something to hold the choke in .With a primer it's just a straight knob but with a choke you rotate it to hold in on the choke .I'm not sure if the primer type knob has the hole in it for the locking pin or not .If I can find the super 250 I'll check .Don't just leave it a push and hold down choke else it will take three hands to get it started .That's what they did with the 44 series .They must have had their heads in their behinds to dream that one up .
I looked at what I think is a Mac 250 super ,black cover flat back carb ,primer .Straight primer knob no holes in it for either the little shaft knob thing or the shaft that locks it in place .I assume it's a super because according to my big black book the standard 250 never offered a primer flatty as per the IPL either an HL or a flatty with a choke .I know the saw never had the carb changed because my bud bought it brand new .Then again remember it's a McCulloch and anything is possible .

In investigating a tad further ,this one I have has the stub pipe type type spark arrestor just like the other two 250's I have .The IPL of the super shows the round muffler .I'm going to have to get the depth micrometer out and measure the stroke I guess to lay this to rest .I didn't flip it over and read the stuffer numbers .Not a big deal just my curiosity .

My friend Mike Jackson stopped by again this weekend and we did a little horse trading.

He received a reasonably nice SP70. We took it out for a test drive on Friday afternoon jus to make sure the saw and his odd ball chain would work. Sorry, no action shots.

In return I received a clean but used 60 DX.

Since I had him at my place, I took a photo of Mike with the 170 (amp) welder. Mike's father Robert V. Jackson had several patents in relation to the welder electrical/electronics.

I will get that unit cleaned up and operational over the winter month.

Mike also brought me another unique creation out of the McCulloch developmental lab. This edger was designed around the 38 cc Titan brush cutter/string trimmer power head.

This may be the only one of its kind in the world.

Just received a 7-10a with a huge bow bar on it. I know very little about it other than its 70cc what can y'all tell me. I also have a 10-10s it's a workhorse with a 28 bar. I also have a regular 10-10. Not running yet. Any experience or knowledge would be great thanks.

7-10's are nice saws. The 28" bar would be at home on the 7-10 and a 20" or less on the 10-10.

Got pics?

That's just a recommendation. I guess it depends on how you define very good. If that means cutting 18" of soft pine, it probably does that good. Bury it in 26" of just about anything and it will perform sub par for me.

I've owned and operated dozens upon dozens of them and from my experience the 54 or 57 cc 10 series like the 16-20" bar range.

If you're 7-10 is healthy, you will like it with the 28" bar for sure.

Want to have some real fun? Locate a 82cc 10-series saw if you haven't already. Those are BA and are still my primary saws.

I've got one just about like it pristene .It had the original chain on it when I got it .That's one of the last of that series by the looks of it .I believe they were 3.5 cubic inch .Mine was bought new by a tree service but hardly used because the owners health failed him .Another one of my freebies .It had a 20" on it ,Windsor style .

The same guy gave me a 700 that was "needled" .That one plus another became one of my 700 runners .If you have enough parts and pieces of 10 series saws you'd be surprised how many you can get running .

Now here's a kicker, 10-10 seals last almost forever but they do fail on rare occasion .That latest model 10-10 and an old right hand start model both had bad seals at the same time . The oldie must have had a million hours on it and the youngster almost none . How ironic is that?

On further examination the 7-10 has no muffler and is missing a a pice of the cover behind the sprocket cover. T think I can make a modified cover and a stink whistle of some kind or maybe find one or rob one off the 10-10 non runner.

The 10-10 in the pic is very low hrs. It just wasn't taken care of before I got it. Just thrown in the barn after using it. It would be nearly mint other wise.
