I have lost track of the history of many of the saws I currently own...I may have to start compiling a notebook with model, serial numbers, and where they came from.

I noticed the super amateur brazing on the muffler deflector and it all came back to me! :D

I stripped the "parts saw" down to the short block tonight (pretty much) I dont think I can resist the urge to try to make a runner out of this. The P&C are in great shape and the compression feels solid. The worst part is the tank. I will media blast it tomorrow and see. I have a spare tank that will accept an SDC but then I would need an SDC and all the bits that go with it (spacers etc) I have a mind to try the bullfrog carb but that is dependent on the tank cleaning up.
At any rate, at the minimum I will need a fuel cap, recoil assembly, and air filter cover.

Hi All
Does anyone have any experience with the carb off a 5-25 2 man saw? I have a 99 power head that i found in a shed that has almost the identical carb.
I am looking for settings and if there is anyone that knows of diaphragms that might be available for them.
Thanks Thomas

Well I built another runner tonight. 2-10DSP.
Thanks @Steve for the "parts" saw lol, and the parts to turn it into a runner. I didn't even need to kit the the carb. I pulled the metering chamber cover and the diaphragm was nice and pliable and it looked clean. It passed a pressure test so I thought what the heck, may as well give it a shot and save a kit. Started in 3 pulls needed a minor tweak on the hi jet but that was it

I may have spoke too soon about not needing to rebuild the carb. I went out this morning and found fuel puddled in the air box and the engine flooded with liquid fuel coming out of the exhaust. Held it wide open and cranked on it and once I cleared the flood it ran fine. Am I correct in assuming this is a needle not sealing?

Sounds like the tank gasket is leaking. That is the fuel in the airbox.

I ran two tanks through it today bucking firewood. No more signs of fuel in the airbox or engine flooding. Gonna leave well enough alone for now.

Does anyone have a work around for these air filters? Swapping filters saw to saw is gonna get old quick. I was thinking of trying to make a frame out of stiff wire and covering it with felt or filter foam.

Trim what's left of an old filter to the basic shape and use some craft felt and a glue gun?

If anything was ever screaming for a re-pop, those fiters are it.

I dont have an old filter. I converted this saw from a bullfrog to an SDC and the original air filter interferes with the choke. But you give me an idea. Maybe I can chop the original one apart and make it work.

It is not uncommon for the cork fuel tank gaskets to shrink if they dry out. Sometimes just letting them set with fuel will swell the gaskets and stop the leaks...kind of like getting and SR-71 up to speed and warmed up.

I started cleaning up my latest batch of parts saws today.

I am looking for a starter base (59023) ignition shaft (59502) and a couple of breaker points covers (59222). I haven't taken the carburetors apart yet so I may need some diaphragms as well.

I was working in England about the time they were decommissioning the SR-71 and they had a story on the news. Next day as we were driving through the countryside I looked over to see one coming in for a landing...magnificent.

Hi All
So I bought a 755 that had "ran a few years ago" l have never been inside one of these and the first views of the carb are not promising.
So from the MAC experts what should I do for this carb, or can anything be done at this point?
Thanks

Did some test cuts with the 2-10 yesterday. It acting like it had a bad crank seal. If I layed it over on the clutch side it would go lean then want to die if I tipped it back up.
I decided to pressure test it this morning. That's a bad crank seal!!!! Had one in stock, so all good now.
