I like all of the saws, but think the sp81 will win, it is also by far the lightest, it is lighter pho than an ms460. Thanks Lee, the 056 is super clean, and I recently scored that nos cannon bar cheep off eBay!! I am planing on having fun with it, I need to make some bar adapters so I can run the same bar and chain. I am not sure on the sp81-850 comparison first hand, have read that the 850 is the strongest, I also think it has to do with which one has the freshest engine, but it is only from what I have read.

How does the 850 compare to the 81, much the same?
My 81 is not running so I cannot personally say, however Mark seemed to think the 850 may have had more power than the other 82cc Mac's. Others have indicated the 80, 81, and 850 as close where the later saws were definitely down in the power comparison. That said, all 82cc Mac's WILL put a smile on the face of the operator, when running properly.

The problem (if it even is a problem) with the 850, great as they are, is the creation of the 5200/5400. Though I still prefer the Mac's character and logging history over the more powerful Poulan.

Maybe it was the Chain, but my 850 hung right in there with Tim’s 5200.

And I think it was my 850 that Bill was running against yours but my chain was pure crap.
Mine run awesome but without a good chain you know it ain't nuthin. Should have checked
it out first.

Typically sp125s have reverse thread nut and no keyway, cp125 have a standard thread nut with keyway along with a 797, but with interchangeably, several combinations are possible.

View attachment 123697 I have had this racer for several years sitting in a box under the bench. It was a champion racer in the late 70's up and down the west coast. I could not take it any longer and spent a couple days restoring it back to its original glory. The chrome starter side is not on in picture as I was afraid of breaking it when starting. Some of the great things it had were..... duel mikuni carburetors, crankcase activated fuel pump. This was needed to pump the extra methanol needed. Stuffer plate.
Roller bearings (not ball bearings) on the end crank. Lightened flywheel and highly modified porting.
I did start and run the saw (standing to one side out of fear!) Ran beautifully and hit 16000 RPM with a lot of trigger left. I wonder who will have this beauty.
Super cool!!!

Cool piece.
Can you post a top side pick of the dual carbs?

Just for general info according to the McCulloch info on the micro fitche the reason they took the key way out of the crank was because it could cause crankshaft damage .Evidently it must have else they'd have left it in .

So I've seen @Lee H say not to tap the crank because of the weights on the crank. Would it take a puller to yank it?
