We be done today, finished where we were & getting ready to move on.
My youngest brother saw/smelled smoke on the 9770 after helping dad take the head off. Some shusks/husks got up on the turbo & caught fire, cooked a cable & wiring harness.

80* + temp & 45mph wind gusts, best to wait for a rain & or cooler temps with less wind.

We may end up using Draper heads on this corn if it all goes down. :(

Hopefully it was just this number.

After some clean up, it appears that there is an oil leak on a line to the turbo, I suppose the husks just blew up in there & started smoldering along with that oil.

Looks like a new connector/fitting for the oil line & a new wire should take care of business.

Guessers are claiming 1”-2” of rain tomorrow. Let it rain

That either 1997 or 1998 here. The Pioneer 33A14 went flat. The combines in the area ate a lot of dirt that year. Even the Kelderman reels were pretty much ineffective

How close are you to the Missouri border? The lowest temp the weather pundits here have predicted for the next 10 days is 32 on November 7th but lots of rain.
About 10 miles as the crow flies from the house, one farm about 15 miles on further north had a couple frosts as well.

We have hit 26*-27* twice already, we had a couple light spotty frosts as well.

I’m gonna try some of mine tomorrow. (The wheat beans). I walked out in them. Still a few green ones in there but the rest have been testing 8-9%. Will see how it goes
I put filler plates on the front 3 threshing sections of my 2388 this year for the first time for beans and they did an amazing job threshing out the green ones. I opened the bottom sieve wide open and closed the front sections of the too sieve down until the green pod beans wouldn’t fit though and opened the last chance section up until they just barely fit through. Lots of Lima beans in the tank this year and they blended in very nicely.

At least they’re not 7% moisture average yet !!
