Grandpa always said “it ain’t junk until you can see the air sticking out”.

I chickened out with the one I changed lol. Didn’t want to do it on the side of the road in the dark. Always seems to happen that way.

The picture I posted is a bit misleading and still a head scratcher for me. The tire in the picture actually came off a M-W Earthmaster. I bought it ripper 7 years ago at an auction and pulled it 65 miles home. It then got parked and not used. There is no freaking way that tire would have made it here. Several years ago my brother was selling his ripper and I have a feeling he swapped his POS tires for the ones on mine. I have some anhydrous gears here that I am not using so I took two "good" tires from one of those and put them on the ripper. I then put the junk tires on the gear....thus the picture showing the junk tire on the gear.

Glad things are turning out well & it does look dusty. Dad & my brother finished up a couple days ago, glad to be done with those filthy beans. The last two loads were 7.4% moisture.

I talked to @hoskvarna , he said they were done with beans & getting ready to start on corn.

We got both machines cleaned up & set up for corn. We left the 9770 with dad to finish up his & my middle brother & I took the the 9570 & a cart to our youngest brothers FIL’s to try & knock his corn out.

The 9570 has been having issues, usually a fuel filter change fixes things but not now. We drained & rinsed the fuel tank & it started throwing codes & powering out again. I figure it’s either injectors or the injector pump.

Yesterday we weaned & hauled off about 175 calves for my dad & youngest brother. Talk about a dusty & dirty job. On the last two loads I couldn’t even see the calves until I was right on them when loading.

I didn’t take any hooves to the shins, thighs or groin so I consider that a good day.

Moving the big herd back to the pasture.

Sounds like “maybe” a wiring harness connector & a sensor will fix the 9570. We will head up tomorrow morning to run the last 13 acres & see what happens.

Monday will be a busy one, sorting off the bulls & preg checking 193 cows.

Currently broke down on the road in tractor truck. No fuel in filter. 🧐
So driveshaft had rubbed a hole in the line that connects the two tanks on the truck. Crimped off with vice grips and got everything bled and got truck to field. Gotta pull line off but it’s below fuel level. Maybe pump some fuel out and see if I can get a new line made. No big deal just a pain

Hope it's a short pull from fields to storage area!
It’s not too bad. Most loads are under 3 miles. I’ve gotten 8 loads so far today and the shed is filling up. I’ll cram close to 400 in here and the remainder will get put into rows outside somewhere.

Took a break from hauling bales to get some manure hauled and chiseled in. I’ve never worked ground this hard before. I had new points on and had to flip them by 2pm and they were absolutely shot by 8pm. Just over 90 acres done so around 6 acres per point. Good grief.

You don’t wait for them to wear to the shank before you change them ? You aren’t getting your money’s worth out of them …

They lose enough thickness off and snap before they wear short enough to wear on the shank. I believe they’re 2x15” points and they’ll be around an inch below the shank when they break off after the second flip. So I try to flip them when there’s a little life left so they last for at least a little while on the flip side.

I ordered a full set of Nichols chrome plated points for it last night. They’re spendy but I’ve had one on for two years now and it’s still got life left in it after 900 acres. These “cheap” ones usually last around 10 acres so that Nichols one has around 60 acres on it on a per point basis. (900 acres/15 points). The next step is a larger chisel. That 9420 plays with this 15 shank chisel 😂

I purchased a Gold Digger tile plow a few years ago and can install around 50,000’ of tile before the tooth is shot. My plow guy says they have customers that get over 750,000’ out of a point. The worms must have angle grinders down there lol
