Sheep can be used for meat, fiber, and even dairy. Different breeds are specialized for various uses. Personally, we run Icelandic sheep. They are known to be very hearty and independent and considered "triple purpose" for meat, fleece and dairy. We were more interested in the dairy and fiber aspects, but there's no real money in that, so meat pays the bills. Icelandic sheep don't have huge carcasses, but the meat is absolutely delicious - extremely mild in the lambs and even into the older adults.
