The Husky 42/42 special/242/246 thread

The newer ones from around 1994 were marked Gilardoni 241 A, B, C, where B was 242, so I always get confused about which was 246 and 42 special.

I looked at Magnus and the cylinder numbers and I don't think I gave them there, but from the outside it looks like a regular 42, I definitely gave the serial number

On those with the start cover Special they had decomp, on those with the top cover Specialc they didn't have decomp.

The only one they should have called special is with the Gilardoni 241 cylinder

I don't think there was a difference except that the orange top cover had a special decal, while the gray top cover had 42 printed.
The decal on the starter cover was also different, the one for the orange top cover was silver while the one for the gray top cover was gray.

Later, there was a starter cover with 42 special, around 1992 and newer.

But, I've never had a 42 special from that era myself, ie, older then 1992.

I have severals hg 42 special on this tag 42 s its that Common.

Well I only have a H 42 S, it is my opinion that it was the anniversary model that had the S. Cylinder wise there was no difference from the 42S to the 42 from 1990 at least not on the 42S I have

Thanks , are there some new pistons to the special that can be just maybe the meteor 242 piston ? New cylinder that can be avelebel?.

The Meteor 242 piston has a lower crown than what Husqvarna has used on both the 242 and 42 special.
If you want to use the Meteor 242 piston, you have to have the cylinder in the lathe and cut down the foot a little.
