Already on its way. Had a cart started so it was a good reason to finish it.
A few more pictures now that it's home on my bench. Gillardoni quad transfer open port cylinder.
Looks like it spent more of its life on a shelf/in a truck than actually doing anything.
Dad had one decaled like this one, and a slightly later one with the special script on the recoil that did have a closed port cylinder. The fellow who dad gave most of his collection is pretty sure he still has it, but I haven't been able to meet up with him while I have been on vacation in the 2 years since dad passed(3000km away so it isn't just a quick trip.)
you beat me too it Tor yeah it’s a beauty
Your 42 saw is just beautiful.
If you need the start cover decal you can get it here:

I’m not sure, in Europe maybe around 1992, I think it matched the greyish decals, but like said, I’m kinda clueless. Ain’t any proper information to find in their IPL either.Gotta question how long did Husqvarna put orange brake flags on these models
It appears to have been only on the farm/ranch and homeowner saws which is not something that could have been cost effective and is probably why it was very short lived. Still interesting nonetheless.
That’s a lovely lineup happy it arrived safely
Got a very nicely packaged 238sg today. Thank you very much Ajschainsaws.
Almost have them all now. I really need to give that poor 234 a bath....
May I ask....Which saw is this ?Compression wasn't too bad, around 145, put in a carb kit and got it to run but it wasn't too happy about idling.
Definitely needs the flywheel side crank seal, tore it down and I'm glad I did. Don't have a before of the cylinder, but it cleaned up nice.
Looks like someone made their own intake gasket and it didn't exactly seal...
The piston isn't exactly pretty, but it will run, looks like a Caber ring is readily available so I will get one ordered.
I have read that a 338xpt piston will interchange with some work so I may give that a try.
Not sure if the front handle has been changed for a non heated one or the wiring broke off under the wrap. But the handle elements test good, and the generator ohms out ok, but I didn't check it for output before I tore the saw down.
All in all, hard to say with it having an obvious vacuum leak and needing 2+ turns on the L to even think about idling, but mid-high rpms it feels snappier than the 242.
I got these in a pile of saws I acquired a couple weeks ago. The 246 is really nice but needs a top end. The anniversary 242 is complete but dirty, and the other 242 is missing the intake and exhaust and is pretty weathered but not beat up.

Your saw looks great with the baby Tsumura bar Tor! I didn't know you could get them that small.Forgot to post my last build.
242 xpg year 1995, Gilardoni 241B top end. No modds & porting, later I'll try to rebuild one with a stock Mahle top end and see if there is any difference between them.
She is dressed with a 13" 050 ga bar, chain is the new Stihl NK 23RS Pro.

Unfortantly the language is Sweedish on his website.
