Hey guys I read some technical specs in the german forum.
So the 881 is nothing special
8,7hp
10kg
Regular carb
Updated oilpump
Captive bar nuts
And the optical changes u already saw in the videos
Nearly the same price as the 880

Pretty surprised on the power, and lack of MT. Figure we’ll have plenty of heads up on changes before it gets to the US. Actually, are the 880s made in both Germany, and Virginia Beach?

Only the 362 and under are made in VB, at least that's how it was a few years back.

No Mtronic is of no concern possibly a blessing on the big Stihl.
I'd say almost all 120cc ish saw's (including the big ass 118cc husky thing) bought is with chainsaw milling in mind now days? so an adjustable carb is good thing one can fatten the tune up for milling...
The days of big timber and chainsaw powerheads that can pull long bars are well over long time ago
Chainsaw milling is probably the biggest market followed by arborist for that one big yard tree a year the rest of the year the big tank just sits on the shelf.
I think maybe only on OPE does the wish for a featherweight carbon fiber fuel injected fire breathing out of the box 120cc chainsaw exist? The rest of the world (the main market) I don't think care aslong as it does as above here and there when asked?
It wouldn't be hard for Stihl to make the 881 out perform the current STOCK forced EPA compliance ms880 and 3120 dogs of today both being only a shadow of what they used to be out of the box (without mods) as far as performance goes.

Does anyone else find it odd that Stihl and Husky can get away with lying?
Will add in here to be clear am talking about ms880 Hp rating new compared to old and how off it is same as 3120 not talking about the ms881.
I mean damb how can the rated HP of these big saw's stay the same or even be clamed as having more HP these days yet the current EPA compliance dogs are clearly down on power and in need of the known mods just bring them back up to par as their predecessors?
If the new 881 is a true 8.7hp that's a clear 3 or 4 hp ahead of the current EPA dogs lol.

think you missed what I was getting at the current ms880 is a slowed down chocked up EPA saw same as the 3120 yet rated specs HP is clamed to be the same as pre EPA models (same saw's just the new ones are restricted in ways and down on power to meet emission law's and crap) it's a lie that they have the same HP consistently all these years lol
The ms881 might have some of what you said above in it we will only know how much when it hits the shelves I guess.
But one thing is for certain even if only rated at a true 8 Hp the 881 will have way more power than a 2020 STOCK ms880 or 3120.

Your going out on a limb here without providing any concrete evidence. Just saying. Maybe they have incorporated new cylinder technology to the new saw?
I would wait until I have tried one before casting judgment. Just me.

Ya lost me
Crossed wires lol
I'm pacifically talking about hp rating for the ms880 new and old and how it don't add up.
Am presuming nothing with the ms881 just it only needs to have a true 8hp to have way more power than the current epa stock ms880 and 3120.

Have you run a new 881 yet? That's all I'm saying here. Don't speculate.
Pretty simple.

LOL I will try to clear this up when I said lieing about rated HP I was talking about the latest EPA ms880 and 3120 there is no way they have the same hp as there none EPA predecessors yet specs by the manufacturers say they are lol
Sorry for the confusion I wasn't talking about the ms881 in that.

Ahhh. OK. [emoji106]
I was thinking maybe they incorporated some of the 462/500i cylinder technology into this 881? Maybe it's more efficient?
But then again, maybe they didn't?
Just gotta wait and hope for the best...
I just hope the 881 comes out soon. Then we can port it
