462 = strato mtronic
500i = non strato FI

What technology do they share ?

I think he meant he hoped Stihl would incorporate technology from either the 462 or the 500i, or a combination of both, into the 881; not that the 462 and 500i share the same technology.

I currently have a MS 880 from a Tree Company with a lean burn piston (exhaust side only). The carb has limiters, but neither the high or low were maxed out, and the 404 chain was installed so tight you could not rotate it.

I'll bet M Tronic would have save it from the burn!

Ya lost me
Crossed wires lol
I'm pacifically talking about hp rating for the ms880 new and old and how it don't add up.
Am presuming nothing with the ms881 just it only needs to have a true 8hp to have way more power than the current epa stock ms880 and 3120.

I agree,

it would be good to get a non tickled and a tickled on that dyno thread.

More like not running 50:1 would have saved it from smearing piston up and down the bore lol
It's common scoring on the exhaust side in 880's worked hard and running 50:1

I would recommend a richer tune, a more open exhaust, better 2 cycle oil, and a richer tune.

Also, a sharp chain not mounted so tight you can not move it is also a good idea!

Looks like the teeth were sharpened many times and the rakers were never lowered (404 full chisel - 41" bar).
