Non adjustable H-jet, slow timing, and a choked muffler. Fix those, and you're in business. Port it,and it's interesting!
Yes I forgot about those restrictions...
I bought an adjustable carb from mastermind, an unlim coil from ebay and it really woke this saw up. It screams when you can rev at 12k

Ok, I thought I read that they reduced the rpm’s because of bottom end issues but must have been for the epa.
Its possible, the FSM has not been updated in a while...
when i got it i believe 9600 was its max rpm, it was bouncing off the rev limiter all the time. less rpms = less emissions.

Might have just been bs about the cranks not liking above 10,000 for a daily use type saw. I know they spin the heck out of them and 880’s for play saws
Yes good point.

i was playing around with it after i got the carb and got it running at 12k no load. It was quite the animal, i was using a 28” with milling chain cutting 16” logs vertically down with the grain just to see what it could do.
For milling ill defenitly dial it back to 10.5k, or whatever rpm gives it the odd 4 stroke blurble while milling.
I milled with it once and had a pinched fuel line, found that out after i ripped the saw apart :( . Its all setup now and ready, im hoping finally this weekend i can give it round two with a reliable run.
About time i stop hijacking this thread too

Hey guys I read some technical specs in the german forum.
So the 881 is nothing special
8,7hp
10kg
Regular carb
Updated oilpump
Captive bar nuts
And the optical changes u already saw in the videos
Nearly the same price as the 880

That’s disappointing. I thought they could get at least 9.5-10hp out of it and shave a pound off the weight. Guess not though
