We have been testing the ms 462 in Tassie for 2 years already

so,after running the two together the other day- your monkey magic saw has an extra top gear in the upper rev range. they felt kinda similar down low,but yours was a screamer once the revs got up

Hi friends on the other side of the Atlantik,

now and then Stihl release some chunks of information relating to the new MS 462 via forestry and agricultural magazines. This is good marketing practice and keeps up the interest of potential buyers. I found an interesting article in Landtechnik Magazin recently, and, as you might guess its in German. Apart from the allegation that now all is better than before some details are promising. It says there, that "a new cylinder geometry with an optimized combustion chamber leads to a higher torque over a wider rpm range" and that is what we all like when felling or bucking a tree. A calibration function has been added to the M-tronic requiring only 72 seconds to optimize parameters.
Here in Germany the new saw will be launched in August at a list price of 1469 Euros. But it can be expected that in the US Stihl plan a more favorable selling price depending on how fierce the competition with Husquarna is.

I just checked Stihl.de and it looks like a 461 is 1445euro so the 462 is only about $25USD more than the current 461 price...
