The HP rating is the same as the 461, but displacement is a bit smaller and it sheds over 1 lb!

If it cuts as well as a 461 but is more than a pound lighter, that will be a big deal! Also, likely better fuel consumption.

I don't know what everyone does for a living, but I use saws everyday 6+ hours a day. The less weight I can carry and efficiently fell/buck/limb the better. 70-80cc range saw is the heaviest unit in want to haul thru the woods with me. So anything lighter (ex the 462/572) I have interest!

I wonder if Stihl will attempt to keep the price the same as the current 461 to get sales off the ground, at least for a short time.

I have an order placed as soon as they are available. Price always goes up shortly after a new saw is introduced.

I think this will be the best 70cc class saw when it comes out ( and I'm kinda a husky guy)
My wish list is the weight specs to be correct and once its ported run like a ported 461 and be durable and reliable. And pre air filtration would be a plus!

IMO, that is exactly why 044/440s and 372s are were so popular with professionals. I am not a pro, but my sentiments are the same as yours.

If you have to cross rugged terrain, or make your notch above a rock wall or barbed wire fence, or rot, etc, a light powerful saw is a blessing!

I can not agree more Mike. I have always felt the 044 had a cult following for good reason. It's a snappy bastardo, pulls 20-26" bar pretty well, good power to weight ratio. I fancy them myself, I have one that is...we'll call it "well seasoned"

I was very close to purchase a new 441 but after the specs of the 462 were released I think this saw will be my next candidate. Have heard it comes with a smaller flywheel not only saving some weight but giving it faster acceleration.

Welcome to ope @beech logger.

Thank you for the warm welcome in this interesting forum. And @ CapitaineHaddock: I fell my trees in a small village in the north of the Palatinate Forest, about 50 km from the French border. And yes, I speak French.

Was at my dealer today. His gold certified tech just got back from Stihl School and there was no discussion or even rumour of 462's in Canada. Tech and I chatted for a minute and he was surprised how much is on the internet about it and they had no discussion at all...
