I'm not sure if Aussie AS member @splitpost is on this site?......But he has a 026 with a serial number beginning with 4 !

Must be an Aussie thing ?

A few things i noticed today when comparing 034's......Note the cylinder to crankcase clearance on the 034 as compared to the 034 Super,also note the ridge that runs past the transfer port,its a cast in part of the crank case.

The 4 stands for the austrian factory.
I only knew battery/electric Stihl products made there in the Viking assembly halls.

This 041 has a 8 digit serial.
Those digit wont show you where this saw was assembled.

1= germany
2/5 = usa
4 = austria
8 = china
9 = not produced by stihl

OK, I see that I´m wrong. Sorry. I had a look at a old TI. They changed it and now 4 is for Austria and in the past it was China.

Two weeks ago I picked up a 034av off Craigslist, it had a scored piston and cylinder. I cleaned up the cylinder and a new piston, it runs good. What's strange about this one is its US built.

Maybe it isn't all original? Maybe someone used different cases or plastic?
Have someone run the serial number through Stihl computer.

Nothing strange about that at all.
All of the 1125’s I’ve had on my bench were made in the states.

I got a super clean 036 red lever made in usa one myself

That one is probably side adjustment? The German 034’s I’ve had are front adjust.

I have 3 034’s here 2 side adjust and 1 front. all start with serial number 1.

I didn’t say all. Lol. Seams they had no rhyme or reason on front to side adjust ?

The Virginia Beach facility started making 034's and 034S in 1990 til their turning into 036's. The German ones start with 1, the American ones 2, which corresponds to his serial numbers. Ask me how I know.. no dont...

Ok... so I've read through most of this. Is the consensus not to use a heat shield if using the spacer?
