A tach is one of the only things I don't have. Air filter Is stock... I have a 260 that I may swap with just to try. What's your thoughts about the artic filters from Stihl.

Run it with and without air filter.

This is a case where the OEM (rare) metal filter is needed.

Even the smaller metal 024 filter flows more than the flocked AM 026 one.

Al do you have a link to the metal mesh that you planning on using.

I have had trouble with the AM flocked filters. Seems the saw(s) with even just a MM do not like them. I have found a few of the wire filters on eBay , they seem to allow the best flow/RPM's. I realize they do not give the best filtration through. I have owned my 024 super since new, and it is still on its original jug, and just its second set of rings.

Czar,

There's the fine mesh, what you want, and then there's the worn coarse mesh with the flicking missing (what you don't want.

Ok I got the saw into some wood today and I wasn't impressed.... I run it with and without the air filter. It definitely ran better without the filter, but was no ball of fire. I believe my ported 024 would out run it!! The saw came out at 104-117.5-79 I really think I need to get the intake up to 70-75. Any input would be helpful and I'll try to make a few videos over the weekend.

If so I'll JB it up to? 70* man I feel stupid... Some times I put too many irons in the fire. I fix saws to relax and learn.

What compression?

Makes little sense it would run badly.

This MS260 is running one ring because I made the intake a bit too big. Biggest intake I've done on this model. I coulda run 2 rings, but I felt I was too close to the ring gap. I lowered the intake also-what a 12pack will make you do while porting.

Final numbers 103.5/118/78, comp 225.

This one loved to rev but was a bit short in the torque department. I was thinking of going with more intake (like you did and I did on this one) in my next build. This was the highest revving 026 I've done. It was happy at 15,800. The others have been happier at 14,000.

Yours should outrun a ported 024 though. Not sure why it isn't.
