Packed up all our stuff from the cabin, put the cabin to sleep. Drove the 2 hours home and unpacked.
Now to start getting things in order here, have been home for one week since April.
I do see 1/2 dozen or so projects for the winter,,,

Let me start by saying... marriage is like a checking account... you must make deposits cuz you're share as hell gonna make withdrawals.... wife and buddies wife threatened us into going to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra.... (I'm so ashamed)..... it was actually not too bad... the 32oz drafts definitely helped.... cross that off my deposit list....

I played with a new PC-based oscilloscope I bought... because it's cold and ugly outside and I didn't feel like spending any time out there. It has nothing to do with trees or firewood or tractors and would probably put most people to sleep watching the squiggly lines. But there you have it. I had fun playing with the squiggly lines, anyway.

Blew up the last of my leaves, tarped em and hauled the across five lanes of traffic into my woods. Cleaned out 3 of 5 of the gutters. The gutter guards get in my more than I think they help. The're supposed to clip to the gutter then it is a wire mesh that goes under the shingles. I opened one of them, so I could blow the leaves out.

Surveyed the fields with an eye to work on them tomorrow. Realized I had a part of a tree down I didn't know about from a microburst we got hit with.

Been to see TSO in the past. There are actually 2 bands, one tours in the east and the other in the west.

Beautiful wood...you plan on milling any?

Not immediately, I milled a bunch a couple of months ago. The land was logged and is now being cleaned up for pasture, the loader operator picked out all the good size cedars. Better to save them than burn them. Some may end up as posts for a shed.

This might be a silly question as I've never milled anything...do folks usually let what is going to get milled set for a certain length of time, or is it better to mill sooner than later?...allows the milled boards/posts a good drying time, milled from the original stock?

I tend to mill it green and then stack and sticker it. All mine has either been done on a band or circular mill. I have wood in my shed that I milled close to 20 years ago.

I got an old toro 2 stroke snowblower running again. needed the carb cleaned.
Went through an old poulan clamshell saw. Piston and cylinder are toast. 80psi comp. Found the lower cylinder bolts all loose. Probably not worth fixing.

I know I'm hammering you with questions, lol...with new or older milled wood, do you clamp it down, ratchet strap it or otherwise, while it's drying out, aging, to keep it from crowning, warping, twisting?...or just stack it and let it go?
