Plow disc re-uses? I used a notched edge one for a (short) fan base. I had acquired some serious blowing, 2 ft diam, gable fans.
A couple ft of electrical conduit with one end hammered flat and the pivot bolt hole drilled through it. Remember to keep this rig kinda short so that it doesn't tip over while running.
grabbed an old notched edge plow disc and welded the aforementioned conduit, standing up in the center. Three pieces of some sort of 1/4" rods from a display rack were welded on for diagonal bracing between the conduit and the disc/base.
Grabbed a bellville washer and stuff for the pivot point nut & bolt.
The belleville washer lets you have a bit of a friction setup for leaving the bolt just a loose enough to let you tilt the fan head a bit as desired.
Reason I used a notched disc for the base? The full round ones will sit and vibrate on a concrete floor.
Anyone remember having to tie a couple pieces of wire or tape around those big Dayton shop fans with the round ring base, to stop the rattling and tendency to "walk".

We're experiencing a tropical heatwave and it's +29F right now so I warshed the large chunks off the skiddy. Might be time to put the new rubbers on soon. They're getting a bit worn.

I had fun making a dodecagon post (12 sided) out of white oak. This picture was partway through the process.

Getting there slowly but surely.

At last!IMG_0970.jpeg
The post and the boards (1 5/8 thick) all came from a 12’ high-grade white oak log we had felled a year ago. Eventually, I hope to turn them into a spiral staircase. The 12 sides are for attaching the treads to a flat surface.

Starting the arduous job of clearing off about 150 yards of fencerow for my Pops.
Complete various briar vines/bushes, saplings galore, and copious plantlife intertwined with the fence!!:crybaby2:
I tell ya what my Hercules 20V brushless Reciprocating Saw is really handy dealing with all this twisted stuff!

I recently bought a Stihl 034AV & a 025, both looked better than average, yet they've already extracted their pound of flesh and I currently reside in "The Law of Diminishing Returns"🤑🤑🤑!!🤔
My fascination with the Stihl 0 series is waning...FAST!🤬

On a more redemptive/positive note, Been doing advocacy for my 91 yr old Pops, his health is really challenged and I've had to really get more than assertive with his Primary Dr. It has paid some some immediate dividends via earlier Drs visits and more effective meds. Pops is doing better too!

Here is the last of this winter's kindling wood I gathered from Pa's place today, cherry, hawthorn, and some nameless BTU providers.

Yesterday I took a little road trip to Wenger's Equipment in Myerstown to pick up a 6ft JD scraper blade for $400

20 mins later I arrived at Outback Toys in Lititz where I spent the next hour & a half drooling. Had to force myself to not empty my life savings... but I still spent $92 on six 1/64 scale tractors & a book lol

2 hours later (thanks to York traffic) I was home.

Came home from AM work shift, got into an argument with my mom and went into my shop reducing old-school solid wood furniture into kindling/firewood.

This is hardwood, fairly straight grained, healthy.
Not the modern $#itty pressed wood chip stuff.

Speaking as someone who's a bit Bi-polar, I hope all is OK Wilhelm!

That said, old but damaged furniture can make a pretty good fire. The salvage guy I've mentioned elsewhere, often had piles of it.
