I've only used it a few times but I like it. It's the 16" one. I have plenty of 18" bars and was looking for a 16. It was only like $35 delivered. If they start making it in 20" I'll get one of those too.

Actually, haven't tried a 24 on either of my ported 346s...might have to do that.
But...they are stupid fast with 16 or 18". I've let folks try my Dozer Dan and scared the *s-word out of them

For not bending over I have the 500i or 372 24 or 28”
I hadn’t tried this 262 since working on it.

Laid my first good fillet joint tig welding aluminum today. These are really tricky because you have gravity pulling the puddle down, different amounts of heat transfer between the two plates and you have a lot of thermal conductivity on the lower plate and less on the upper which is the very edge. You also have to hit it with really high amperage to get the puddle formed and then quickly drop it down so you don’t blow through as the part heats up.

By far the trickiest joint for me to learn, but I feel like I’m getting there. I have done about 50 of these welds and only now I’m starting to get a feel for it. There is still a lot I did wrong here, too large stepping distance, too many amps at the end, not consistent stepping distance either.

This is about 20 hours of practise so far and I’m just scratching the surface.hats off to good tig welders!!

I was able to mulch this last batch of leaves. Enuf so, that the lawnmowers (Lawnboy's) fuels were drained and ran dry.
Nice and cozy till next year.

Fired up Dante today. Highs in the low 40’s says it won’t turn into a gooey creosote factory too badly until it actually cools off and can work itself a bit.


Almost seems like cheating using the weed burner but I can still brag I started one fire all winter with a single match

I have a sidearm on the water heater in the house that does the job quite nicely. I looked into adding the DHW coil into my stove as part of the install and it would have been a PITA as I’d have had to run a second line set or a fancy 4 pipe line set and it just didn’t make sense. I also thought about a plate exchanger to be used more “on demand” but our well water is so cruddy that the water side would have plugged in short order. I put valves before and after the sidearm so I can flush it out when needed. It works well.

There is no way in hell I would ever have a plate exchanger. I have a sidearm and still have issues with iron.

Ahh the goey creosote. One thing I don’t miss about the owb. Part of it was it was slightly oversized, so ended up adding a dump zone. And she liked her wood nice and dry being gasification. Had to be a couple years ahead on wood, which is good practice anyway.

Your wood may be too wet, or you aren't burning it hot enough or with enough air flow if you have a lot of creosote and chimney fires.
