Is that a screw type splitter? 1 was just looking at kits for those a minute ago. I'd like to see it in action. We have no shortage of tractors around here.

The auger is factory made in our country and I welded the rest myself, it is slow compared to an electric motor but more mobile, The worktop can be removed if the pieces are long

Dropped some big and very tall Eucalyptus trees with the help of a professional logger friend. XS500i with a 28 for the smaller trees and my TM066 with a 36 for the bigger ones. Several of the trees had to be wedged over as they were leaning towards houses adjacent. Coming weeks will be limbing and cutting these to length and pulling them under the oak trees nearby so I can ring them and split them in the shade at my leisure.

Also got to use my newly built MOFO034s for the first time. Very impressed so far Thanks @drf256 !

I finally stumped out the dying madrone I have been whittling away at. Good use of the afternoon.

Between the awkwardness of the remaining tops and the weight, there was no keeping it on the uphill as I tried to do. Thankfully the other old madrone log held it in a good place for bucking and splitting.

Midway through the morning I got a text from my extra most bestest friend asking if I was working today and they wound up dropping by to pick up some chit and say hey for a few minutes. Hah, overtime?! Nope, too much money outta their pockets. Tues-Sat is my new life. Weekends, weekdays, they're meaningless. My weekends are the day(s) I'm not working that week.

When we were changing ownership I was raking in OT. Lack of staffing meant I could work as many hours as I wanted. Once I pulled a 13hr day as the first day of a 13 day straight stretch. One of the worst decisions I've made. I can only sorta remember the last few days of that and I was barely functioning through the whole thing. But I had 128-ish hrs on my 2-week time card. That was a good pay check. Then the new owners accountants started talking to the old ones and OT was basically banned. I knew it was gonna happen and capitalized on it for as long as I could.

Tore down an ms311 we recently bought, rod bearing has left the chat and the other 311 we bought is getting a little suspect. Could have bought a couple of echo 590s but noooo boss who never touches a saw said stihl only.

I was looking over a husky 350 I purchased for a friend today & at first I saw the metal intake clamp and thought oh sweet it’s been updated already. Well after taking the cover off I I found it just like this…. I guess whoever installed it figured the little metal ring was good enough ?

Went out to the shop this morning. Something smelled like burnt plastic. Couldn't figure out what it was. Then I got to the bench.The bad news is that I lost easily $600 in tools. The good news is the shop didn't burn down.

I'm sure this could never happen with car batteries, so that's nice.

Just sitting. I don't think the guilty battery was in a tool.

Got a fee more pieces of steel on the barn. Getting closer. I'll order the last 11 pieces tomorrow. Sure would be nice if they were able to cut them and have them ready for me to pick up by tomorrow afternoon.

Back in 2007 (if I remember the year right) Dewalt had a recall on some of there cordless tools due to this exact problem. There was a grain elevator going in locally here and they had one burn a hole through the floor over night.

Was your battery the new 20v Lithium style?

I'm pretty sure the one that started was a 20v/60v max and a generic one I bought off Amazon. I've purchased several regular 20v generic and they have been great, but I think this one wasn't functioning quite right. It certainly isn't now. It had to be extremely hot but did little damage outside of 18" away. 3 grinders and a 1/2 impact and 3 or 4 batteries.

That's scary. Glad it didn't spread past the bench. Lithium batteries can release a lot of energy very fast. Good opportunity to switch to Milwaukee?
