My wife and I were talking yesterday about buying some gimmicky potato planters.... well, my mind started trying to save money and beat the system, and this was the result....
Ain't tried it yet, so I guess I'll have to update in the fall.
How did you do the chicken wire ones? how'd it work out?
We're always looking for a better way to do stuff too!
I have done them in the chicken wire a couple times with great success. I did about a 2x3 foot planter and 30" high. I laid the seed potatoes in some soil and added mulched leaves on top. Ast the sprouts came up add more material. I got about 20" above ground by the time I gave up on adding to it. That yielded over 30 pounds of potatoes. The stumps would be much better to look at and I have a couple hollow cherry rounds that might work perfect. Here's one of the loads that got pulled out of the ground.

Well, if they work good enough, maybe we can get "potato planter stump boring" contests going at some of the gtg's. Lol.
My wife is very pleased with the look of these, so that's a plus anyways, and I see no good reason they won't work just fine.

Why not just plant the potatoes directly in ground? Just asking. I'm no farmer.

Ain't no dirt here in the Ozarks, just playdough-clay and rocks! we gotta do all our gardening above ground, and make our own soil.
Also, it's lots easier to harvest spuds if you can just dump'm out, instead of diggin'm up.

I've caught fish on almost every one of the lures I see there!! I actually got out a couple weekends ago....
Fished from before Sun up till almost 4 before I finally had one on the line. Worth the wait though. [emoji106][emoji6]

Second photo with my winter boot size 10.5 for size reference cause it never got above 50 with the wind blowing 15-20 out of the NW....

Yes sir.

Just above Cordell hull dam, same place state record was caught. Only a few weeks a year when you can find the big girls that have such vivid coloring like that.

Strangley enough I don't eat fish!! Lol.
Always release the really big ones.
Guy I fish with does keep fish to eat from time to time. We catch A LOT of fish so we don't keep very often.

Guy I fish with says that yellow bass ate the best eating with hybrids in the 6-9# range are second best. Striper from 10-15ish are good as well.
Since I don't eat them I am taking his word for it. [emoji2369]
